I've only been a Verizon customer for a couple of months. So far so good. I had a couple of issues immediately following the installation, but both were resolved. No calls for support since then. I switched from BH and have no intention of going back.
If there is any downside to Verizon Fios, in my opinion, it is the lack of good technical knowledge at the customer support level. Once you get to a real tech support person, it's much much better.
FYI, this forum is an invaluable resource for a lot of users. You can get great help on most issues very quickly and painlessly here. And won't have to wait at home all day for the service guy 😉

Don't do it! I've been with them for a month and a half and wish I could go back to Cox cable - without paying $400 in cancellation fees. FIOS's customer service people aren't trained very well and good luck trying to talk to someone from Tech Support. I've been trying for a month to talk to someone from Tech Support and have yet to get through to anyone - over a half-hour on hold each time and no answer. The three requests by customer service persons for someone from Tech Suppor to contact me and still no call. The channel lineup apparently continually changes, mostly reducing channels. The DVR is not very good quality, the pause function is horrible. The installer tried to charge me over $200 extra for something the customer service person said was included. I'm lucky enough to be able to install my own wires or I would have had to pay it. The boxes pause for 2-8 seconds everytime I hit a button and sometimes don't even receive the signal from the remote - when it's 5 feet away and pointed straight at the box. I could go on, but you get the idea. Horrible growing pains. Wait a couple of years and maybe FIOS will get their act together.

By the way, I would bet that anyone with a few posts is an actual customer and anyone with a couple of thousand posts either has no life or is working for FIOS.

I must be one with no life according to NOVA118 rules.
Hey I do not get paid for being here. I like my Verizon FiOS service since 2005, and I do have a life. So you would lose that bet. Everyone needs a hobby to take the edge off when there is spare time. I used to have more hands on with the tech stuff, but now management. Reading this and other tech type stuff on the web keeps me updated on the goings on. A person can not be out doing something 24hrs a day. I read alot here and other places on the web. I do not pay for a news paper. I find the TV a good thing to put me to sleep. As I age, reading in low light makes my eyes hurt.

Not a Verizon employee, just someone who has technical knowledge (as an electrical engineer in the communications field) that happens to like helping people. If that means I have no life, then so be it
BTW - why bother posting if that is how you feel? All of us with no life will still try to help if we can.
