I don't think I've ever put my request in for CSN DC Plus here. There's another Caps game on Saturday 11-21, and everyone in North America will be able to see it (on CBC and NHL Network) except for most FiOS subscribers in Maryland and Virginia. The game will be blacked out for us on all other outlets except CSN+, but Verizon does not see it necessary to carry this channel outside of the DC Metro area.
I have recently had FiOS installed at my house in North Attleboro, MA, located in Bristol County. I was very excited to get my FiOS until I started to look through the channels. To my displeasure, I realized that WFXT-25 Fox Boston was not in the lineup. This had come as a complete shock as I know that during negotiations back in November of 2008 with the town to get a license to install, it was agreed that Verizon would provide the Boston local channels in standard and high-definition.
I know we have the local channels for NBC, ABC and CBS but not FOX. Truth be told if I knew that WFXT was not in the lineup I probably would have stayed with Comcast, who does carry WFXT in our area. In fact there are several people I have told I switched to FiOS have asked me what channels were available. When I tell them that WFXT is not in the lineup, their response is “Oh, well Comcast offers it and I love watching the Fox25 news”. There are a lot of dedicated viewers to WFXT in this area and I think Verizon should know that. There are many folks I have spoken to who told me that they have been given a good rate from Comcast and they have WFXT so they probably would not switch over. Comcast does carry WFXT and is starting to get competitive in there pricing to keep their customers from switching to Verizon.
I live in Mass and would like to watch my local news not Rhode Island news. WFXT is the best newscast in the area and am very disappointed in the fact the Verizon does not offer it in the line up. There are both Boston and Providence channels in the lineup for all other networks and am not sure how WFXT had slipped through the cracks and is not offered to us.
How about giving half of New Jersey the ability to see their local hockey team play? Half the state can't watch the Devils, the Rangers or the Knicks games because MSG isn't available from Ocean County south. The hockey games are also blacked out on NHL Center Ice because the games are available on a regional sports network that Verizon says is not available to residents in Ocean County and the rest of South Jersey when its available on Comcast which is the cable provider for South Jersey.
Yea, wrap your minds around that one. How **bleep**.
I'd like to also request that Verizon either:
a. adds Comcast Sportsnet Plus to their lineup, or
b. *not* blackout Capitals games on the NHL CenterIce
channels when the Capitals are shown on Comcast Sportsnet Plus.
Add me to the list of unhappy fios customers about missing caps games.
Please either add CSN+ in Howard County, MD or don't black out the game on NHL Network/Center Ice.
It's absolutely ridiculous that I have to go to the internet or log into a friends sling box who has directv to watch these games!
Verizon has to regionally black out the game on NHL Network / NHL CI due to league territorial restrictions. On the other hand, they CAN give us CSN+, which they have failed to do so far. Did I mention that I was asking for this channel back in May? I guess no one cared at the time!
