Eric- Thanks for the update.  Sure there are numerous soccer fans like myself who would love to see FSC in HD as soon after January 1st as possible.

NASA TV would be great in HD, but even SD would be a nice addition.  I've never subscribed to a TV service that didn't have it until FiOS 😞

Other requested additions:

E! in HD

Fox Soccer Channel in HD (please before the World Cup this summer!)

Thanks to Kathleen and Verizon for looking at these suggestions.

Erik,

How come one  person asked about the FOX Soccer Channel HD and they get a reply from Verizon?

When You have multiple customers on multiple threads in multiple markets asking and pleading and begging for CSN+. And we get nothing in return from VERIZON.  Every other provider provides this channel, except for VERIZON.

The most HD??? Why should customers keep begging for new channels that are available in HD. FIOS has the Bandwidth right. Many channels are advertizing in HD but we don't have them. We complained and complained about not having NASA and we still have no NASA. What gives? At least Verizon has not started counting every local VHO's local channels in the HD count. I rememmber when DTV was doing that. But isn't FIOS better. I think when it is available it should be added. I also remember all the hype about all available HD channels.

New channels are coming this year.  There MIGHT even be an announcement sometime in the latter part of January. (G4 and, E! might be two of them...and I think those are Comcast channels.  If so, maybe that Comcast sports thing will show up soon as well.  I believe there mnight even be a newer HD tier coming. Remember folks, this is business and some of these channels are owned in groups.  For example, Turner owns CARTOON , TCM, and a couple others.  And we all now the problematic issues with the Cablevision contract regarding MSNBC.  I'm sure Verizon is in negotiations for many of the requested channels.  But cost also has to be taken into account.  A one dollar increase has already been announced for HBO and many people are ticked off about that.  And, while many requesters probably will say they wouldn't mind paying extra for whatever their favorite channel is, other people would not. (Personally, I wouldn't want to pay a penny extra for CSN+, the Swahili Channel, the Little League Channel or whatever.)   Unfortunately, no one has yet instituted any type of  a la carte  plan where subscribers can just pay for channels they want.   So we need to wait for Verizon to make the best deals they can. Sure, I'd love to have BBC-HD as soon as possible.  But right now, Verizon already offers more HD than I have time to watch!

As long as they still have HDNet and HDNet movies, I'm happy.   NASA fans should check out that channel, as they have been broadcasting shuttle  launches and "Live from the Space Station.",  NATGEO has programming like EXTRATERRESTIAL's two-telescope project,  SCIHD has shows about the transition to the new Constellation program and construction of the ARES vehicle...what I'm trying to say is that some of the requested programming is already out there!  Plenty to enjoy until the on-line channels actually appear.  (And no, I am not associated with Verizon in any way.)

What frustrates us about CSN+ is that it's already carried by Verizon in areas that have the DC version of FiOS1, and the signal is already being provided to Vz since they carry the main CSN channel. No additional negotiations appear necessary. Verizon simply needs to find a way to get the feed and deliver it to its customers like all other providers have done. We have been asking for the overflow feed for months, and there has not been one Verizon response on this board. We've heard through the grapevine that Verizon had a solution almost a month ago, but there has only been silence ever since, with no channel ever showing up.

CAPS09, I did not know that.  But, if that is the case, then it may just be a matter of space.  As you may know, Verizon is split into various VHOs (Video Home Office).  You may have noticed that the recent  9.83 update did not appear on all systems at once. Here in North NJ (VHO 7, I think) it happened sometime after other areas already had it.. So each may possiblt have different delivery routes.

But going back to the space issue, if Verizon delivers digital and HD cable channels  via QAM (a method of encoding and transmistting  via cable and fiber optics) to deliver their programming, then it must be getting crowded by now.  Space can always be freed up (for HD hopefully), by getting rid of some of the standard channels...but then that would probably bring about a hue and cry for those who have yet to switch to HD,    They could always switch over to a different technology, but that would make many set-top boxes obsolete. I have heard that there may be a newer set-top box coming down the pike, but I don't know much more than that.  Hopefully, it would allow for more channels. (And probably at a higher premium as well.).

Still, for the record, HD channels that I've heard (this is NOT official) may be coming soon are:  E!, G4, Style Network,  TBN, and Gospel Music Channel.  As I mentioned earlier, Turner/Time Warner handles Cartoon Network, HLN, truTV, and Turner Classic Movies. I'd assume that the appearance of those will depend on the state of negotiations.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is a NASA HD channel.  If so, I'd probably never watch it if it is just a standard channel, as there is plenty of NASA programming in HD already found on other channels. (Sorry...I'm spoiled.)

Personally, I'd like to have SUNDANCE CHANNEL in HD...but if it is anything like the travesty that IFC-HD is, then I'm in no hurry!
