Veracity.  It's known that outside soccer sites have put up links and tell people to come here to request  FSC, even if they don't have FIOS!.  Probably 90% of  such posts show that the user regiustration date and posted FSC request message are the same.   And, if I am well aware of it, FIOS is probably also aware of such "ballot-stuffing."  As a further indication, basketball, for example, is a MUCH more popular sport than soccer in the U.S., but you don't see as many requests for MSG-HD (which has been available for YEARS!).  Personally, I'm not interested in either channel and I'm not trying to offend soccer fans...but volume here is not necessarily indicative of real-world demand..

Exactly. I'm sure Verizon is using IP addresses to determine if a large number of their subscribers are requesting soccer in HD or a persistent, annoying vocal minority - and acting accordingly.

Hi Kathleen,

Verizon FiOS need to add either Sirrus or XM TV along with BBC HD.  I was with Direct TV prior to switching to FiOS and they had XM TV.  FiOS is really behind the curve with not offering a sattelite TV service.  Are there any plans to add sattelite TV?

The reason you don't see requests for MSG-HD is because it's only of relevance to people in a small geographic area, thanks to the fact that Verizon doesn't provide much CI in HD.

And of course you saw the flood of requests for NatGeoWild-HD and ID-HD, that's why those two were added, wasn't it? Every HD channel tries to flood boards with requests to add it; the fact that the posts requesting FSC-HD swamp those for every other channel speaks to its popularity and the fact that Verizon doesn't choose to add HD based on consumer demand.

Who is Veracity?  Is this Verizon?

MSG is just for the NY-NJ market.  FSC is nationwide.  FSC HD  & GOL TV HD is in high demand.

Verizonfios is slacking!!!!

DISH is nationwide. So is DirectTV. And Comcast.  Verizon, however, (although it covers selected market across the country) is NOT nationwide.  Heck, not even statewide in many cases. Obviously, anyone who wants every foreign channel or every single sports channel in existence should utilize DISH or DTV..  That's what I'd do.  If Verizon ever dropped, say, HDNET MOVIES, I'd be a DISH subscriber so fast, you wouldn't even see my dust.  Right now, the Verizon hub is NJ/NY.  NJ is the most densely populated state in the country.  NY needs no explanation.  Logically, those people would be begging for a channel that other providers have been carrying for years like MSG.  The reason you don't see that is because there are not outside web-sites directing people to post on the Verizon site .

Again, I'm not knocking FSC or the fans. Just rying to put things in perspective. And at least Verizon also supplies (at great cost) FSC+...Cablevision certainly doesn't!  I sure that, when channel capacity allows, FSC-HD will be added.  But right now, like it or not, it remains a niche channel.  (The nationwide TV ratings for the World Cup proved that.)  Still, while the fans may be small in number, they are certainly loud!  So I'm rooting for them.

Why would someone request a channel for a service they dont even have? I have had fios for almost 2 years btw, and please do link me to some of these sites that are "ballot-stuffing" this thread because i havent seen any and I read a lot of the big ones (epltalk, yanks-abroad, goal.com). MSG-hd is Madison Square Garden TV, in case you didnt know msg is where the Knicks/Yankees games are broadcast. In my opinion thats even more niche then soccer. That would be like someone from NY requesting Comcast Sportsnet bay area(CSN-HD). Basketball may be more popular in the US but the Knicks sure aint!

Here's something from the FSC site itself    " FSC is pushing the operators to pick up the HD feed and is therefore providing a pass through link to Verizon where you can request FSC HD be added to the FIOS line up. I have personally done this 50 times."

While I agree aboiut the Knicks. there are still millions in the Tri-State area who are fans.  Yet not even 30 - 50 requests, despite a strong desire for it in the area.

You do realize there are other sites besides this? Have you ever visited dslreports and read the large thread requesting MSG-HD?

BTW, NatGeoWild provided the same "Pass-Through" (I would suspect all sites do it) and I don't recall seeing a request for that channel here. Someone actually has to utilize the link. Huge numbers of FSC fans have. If you have evidence (not merely wishful thinking) that this large number of requests was from a small number of people then please post it.

What criteria are you using to support your contention that the WC ratings "prove" soccer is a niche sport? You are entitled to your opinion but without objective standards it's just that, an opinion. Besides, all that matter is what channels are requested, and FSC-HD is one of the ones that dominates. IIRC, even the "Twitter rep", whatever that is, admits FSC-HD is the most requested channel.

Either way, I think we can agree that the reason Verizon isn't adding HD is not because their "analysis" shows there's nothing out there worth adding, it's because they don't have the capacity.
