@film11 wrote:... But before deciding if you want to pay an additional premium for that channel, keep in mind that they chop off approx 25% - 40% of the picture on new movies such as IRON MAN, INDIANA JONES IV, etc. (For me, that is a deal-breaker...defeats the whole purpose of HD).
Also, I have found that none of the ON Demand movies on the EPIX freeview has Dolby 5.1. Everything I watched (including Iron Man) was in 2.0 audio - another disappointment besides not showing in OAR

TCN - 10 Flyers and 10 Sixers games, plus spring Phillies game. Now that FIOS is finally in this area, you've got to add TCN since they're moving more games there now.
After that BBC America HD and NASA TV (SD or HD).
PLEASE TCN!!!

Couple more thoughts on the TCN thing. I'm sure if I were a business advertising on a very high priced show such as the Flyers - I'd want it on CSN, not TCN where the viewing audience is less (and shrinking now that Fios is in the immediate area, and soon to be in the city itself). At some point, there will be a tipping point (I hope) where the less ad revenue generated by TCN will nudge Comcast to make a better offer to VZ for TCN. I had read that Comcast charges VZ about $3.00 / subscriber for the CSN local coverage, TCN has got to be a lot less than that (though that could be completely incorrect).
Also, if you're really stuck you have 2 immediate solutions available to you for TCN:
1 - Call or go into a Comcrap local office and order Limited Basic Cable. It's $10 / month (about $14 after taxes and stuff) and it DOES include TCN if you get the digital STB with it (2 free I think). It's not HD, but it's the game.
2 - www.hockeystreams.com - FIOS bandwidth should support this just find for the HD stream of 1800kbps.
Ideally, VZ will see what's going on here in Philly and add it at some point this year.

Very true. I didn't mention that because it is possible that when the channel is up, it could be in Dolby 5.1...but it's unlikely that they'll change policy and cease showing a movie in a compromised manner. Very unfortunate...and I won't pay for it. But thankfully, Verizon offers HDNet Movies and they seem to do everything right!

I just read that WSAH here in New York is removing Retro TV from their schedule. Is there anyway Verizon can pick up RetroTv. The station is a lot better then TVLand. Shows a lot of the shows from the 50's and 60's.
Thank you

TCN- This channel needs to be added immediately to the local area's channel line-up
Fios needs to realize how faithful the Philly fans are to their teams even if it means switching back to comcast ( no one wants to have to either). I actually wouldn't care if they had to charge me the $.50- $1.00 per month charge that comcast is going to charge them for each subscriber to add the channel.
I was a loyal Direct TV customer for 10 years before switching to Fios and the reason I switched was for Comcast sportsnet and now some games are being pushed to TCN and Fios absolutely needs to add this as local OTA station. Is the administrator Kathy still following this thread.
