I'm very pleased to announce that for Philly sports fans in VHO8 (DE/PA/SNJ) - The Comcast Network has gone live today on Channel 99. I know a few of you have been asking me for updates.
This will be SD only (at least for now) - and apparently will also be fed to the Harrisburg, PA VHO (if someone out there can confirm).
This is a great move by VZ - especially with the pivotal Flyers game on TCN tonight.
For those unaware, TCN acts as an paid programming / sports overflow channel for Philly sports, similar to CSN+ in the DC area.
This will serve as your Verizon PR - since they never actually put out one.

Just in time for the 2 Phillies games I would have missed this week.
Thank you Verizon!

Thanks for the info. I hope they are able to free up an HD channel, but "beggars can't be choosers" I suppose. It won't effect that many games but it's nice to know we won't miss any games now. BTW, do you have an "inside" to FIOS programming in any way? If so, what's the scoop on FSC-HD being added? Thanks! Bob

WOW! Congrats to Philly fans on this addition. I don't know of any other provider besides Comcast that carries this. Even if it's not in HD, it'll still be nice for you to be able to see the handful of games that aren't on CSN.
I checked, and the Mid-Atlantic version of TCN wasn't added here, but that would only be good for some college games. All the pro games and most college games are on CSN and CSN+ in VA, DC, & MD.

Even in SD, picture and sound are fantastic, makes MSG and MSG+ look like *ss. Hands down the best looking SD channel on FiOS.

Does anyone know if TCN, channel 99 is on in Willow Grove (Montgomery County) PA. My son-in-law called Verizon and the rept told him they don't carry TCN. I am in Phila and get the channel & I know anoter person in Bucks County PA who gets the channel. Thanks.

Ec-
Yes, Willow Grove would carry it as well.
I wouldn't expect the CSR's to know about it - hell, they didn't even let their customers know!

Now Verizon needs to realize that the demarcation in New Jersey between the New York and Philly markets is not a black line. I live in extreme southern Middlesex County, NJ - 20 minutes from the legal border of the City of Philadelphia and a full one hour on a fast train to New York City. Despite our proximity to Philly, Verizon designates us as a NYC-only market. Meanwhile, my neighbors with Comcast get BOTH NYC and Philly channels. It's tough in the fall being stuck at home with NY Jets games (a Long Island team at heart) or sitting for several hours in a bar with DirectTV to see the Eagles.
