I work in the Emergency Management field, with Florida hurricanes a high priority.  I have tried to use Accuweather for the information I need. However, this program has far too many issues. It does not play on older tube TVs, you get grayscreen. Not much help for radar maps there. Also, Accuweather does nothing but read NWS weather bulletins. We need the informational segments provided by Weather Channel. The weather aware training segments are important to people. The real time, situational reports are important to everyone in a landfall area. EMs rely heavily on the real time status of the storm, on location, and the weather modeling and predictions sotrm landfall and future forecasts. I cannot imagine this passive bulletin posting Accuweather app to be of much, or any, help during a mass evacuation and landfall of a long overdue hurricane in south Florida. What mass media channel will people have to watch for accurate and real time information? CNN? Please bring The Weather Channel back before June 1, the beginning of Hurricane Season for the Gulf States and Eastern Seaboard. Our goal is to protect lives, and Weather Channel has always been there to help us do just that.

This is not correct, either. Dish just signed a multi-year deal with TWC, including bringing it to Sling TV sometime before July.

That's gonna be my avenue to watch TWC as an interim solution. It's a paid subscription ($20/month) but one less cable box will pay for the service.

When did I ever say they WERE dropping it? Never. I said they were thinking about it. Yes Dish backed off and resigned, but they were indeed considering dropping it before they backed off and terms were met. It DOES NOT mean that other providers won't drop it or are considering it. There are TONS of providers out there. People act like Verizon is the ONLY provider to ever drop channels when they aren't.

The biggest Difference between Dish and Verizon is Dish negotiated in good faith. Verizon, The Bullies That they are, did not. And at present all the major providers, except Verizon, have signed new contract's  with The Weather Channel. Verizon has already lost more customer's then it cost for them to carry TWC. And now their "Skinny" Bundles are being challenged in court. Why Verizon, who was gaining in popularity, would choose to have all this negativity is beyond me.

We are extremely disappointed that the Weather Channel Disappeared.  Your replacement is a joke.  You might

have to wait several hours to get to a city near you.  It is a complete waste of time and we hate it.  We now have to turn off the television and go to our computers and try to find weather.  This is ridiculous.  Tell me who I can scream at because

I am furious.  The hurricane season is around the corner and YOU IN YOUR GREEDY WAYS, have taken away the Weather Channel.  Accuweather is awful.  This WILL BACKFIRE if you don't fix this.  Please help.  We will change providers if this doesn't change.  Thank you.  'Suffering in Florida'.

I hate this Accu Weather - there is nothing to like about it.   I see that Verizon didn't change the rates for dropping the Weather Channel - hate the fact that I can't just tune into the local weather forecast like I use to -   defilnitely will change come December when my contract comes up

How do you know they did not bargain in good faith?

BTW, there is more to the cost of carrying a channel than just the subscriber fee, so don't go by TWCs claim of it only being .14/user.

Lots of people have been asking for a la carte. Verizon tried to go down that path. And the content providers (who have been holing it up for years) are striking back. How can you blame Verizon for that?

This letter was promted by a recent line up change in Verizon Programs.

Dear Sirs,

Thanks for the "heads-up" it will save me a fruitless search for a great national weather channel. Seems like corporate greed has once again taken the lead over customer service.

I'm sure the dollars you save will probably out-weigh the lost revenue over customers that drop your service because The Weather Channel was their 'go-to' station.

Maybe with all the bucks you save you can offer some really great improvements to your long time existing customers (suckers) that keep renewing their FIOS-HD. Especially the ones like myself who refuse to pay an extra $18 for the HD part of our 'HD-Prime Contracts'.

It really is a shame that your once growing and great service has deteriorated to a desperate grasp at every possible buck you can squeeze out of your clients and customers. You would think that customers that you've had for more than five or six,or ten-twenty plus years really deserve a new and free upgrade in hopes that they will not stray. You do know free 1080 HD is available on simple TV antennas, right?

Time heals all wounds and those still fesstered, like promised $100, $200 & $300 gift card rebates, these may be forgotten, but, certain, is a never ending entertainment glut that will swallow up cable-TV like a fly to a frog.  You folks with your upgrades and extra charges will wallow in a dwindling customer base.  Court your customers like new brides Verizon, or the divorces are eminent.  Give special deals to your existing customers as freely as you do to your new potentials, treat us like stockholders...people that have an interest in the company.

I am definitely not alone in my disgust with VZ cable-TV, multiple friends and family members have thier own 'rip-off' stories.  We share these in humored disgust, fellow suckers comforting one another's financial wounds and service frustrations. Keep dissing us and faking like you really care and you will continue to see cable -TV usage dwindle.

The Weather Channel will be missed by some more than others. It offered more than just weather, but so does thier online app on my AT&T phone.

I have evaluated my families options for continued service with Verizon and honestly your coming up short. Really you do need to court us like you care, love us , up-grade, full-fill your rebate promises, find "Happy-Happy, Win-Win" solutions.

Sincerely,
O-S
Maybe 'too-long'  with Verizon

What are you refering to when you say Verizon charges $18 for HD portion of plan?

Verizon has never charged extra for HD.

Yes, an HD STB is required if you wish to rent equipment from Verizon, but you have other options (TIVO, cable card, etc).

Some cable providers have an extra charge for HD.
