The Weather Channel

For a company that considers itself to be customer oriented, your decision to remove The Weather Channel out of total greed definitely reflects on the ineptness of the cjurrent management, To do that without even considering the cusrtomer, who is paying for the programming, is totally irresponsible. the Accutweather programming is a total insult. Why should Verizon dictate what we can and cannot purchase? Take off the all of the low rent garbage channels you force down our throats and let us have what we want in programming. You're not that good to be so arrogant. Fortunately, there are competitive companies who do have what we want.

uuuuuuurgh! i hate it when i see the suggestion that the best thing we could do to send a message to verizon is cancel our service. it'd be better if verizon fixed their {word filter avoidance}

Nobody is forcing you to subscribe.

Verizon has made a busines choice. Like any other business, they get to choose what tehy offer.

We as consumers get to decide if we like what they are offering at the price.

Don't like it, find another provider.

If enough people change providers, they can accept it or change.

My belief is that it is a vocal minority that is upset with TWC being dropped.

Most people won't take the time to post that they don't miss it.

Plenty of articles have been written how overall viewership (not one time during severe events) is down.

I agree - Weather Channel is far and above the best. When I called in to complain suddenly some of my channels disappeared and my 2 year renewal on terms I had worked out with the rep couldn't be found.

AccuWeather is anything BUT accurate.  My husband and I work outdoors, and rely heavily on the weather channel.  I've had to resort to looking online, either via the weather channel or the National Weather Service.  How is it that Verizon can hold me to a contract where I am no longer paying for services that I signed up for?  In other words, part of the channel listing I signed on for included the weather channel.  Yet they can drop the channel, and not give me either a discount or an option to back out of the contract?  That's unethical and just plain pathetic.  I hate to leave Verizon, as I have loved having it, but I'm not really interested in continuing to be with a company that is only concerned with profit, and not concerned with fulfilling what they promised to subscribers.

It happens a lot. I have only recently had a contact with Customer Service but to no avail.

If you read the contract, you'll see that it allows Verizon to change channel content at any time.  The contract does not cover specific channels.  You may not like it, but you agreed to this when you signed the contract.  You can change channel packages and services at anytime while under contract; all you need to do is maintain Verizon services to honor your end of the contract.

Note that there are often channels that go away simply because the company behind the channel stopped producing the channel.  This is part of the reason Verizon's contracts allow for content changes without any change in fees.

You can cancel Verizon service anytime you like.  If you are under contract, you'll have to pay an early termination fee based on the number of months left in the contract.  If your contract expires, you can go month-to-month.  This allows you to cancel anytime without an ETF, but Verizon can raise their price anytime they want.

Enjoy.

Thie deletion of the Wearherchannel and Weatherscan is outrageous. For those of us who watch the weather channel and weather scan stations all day long, this decision is very disappointing.  I'm sure you are just trying to save money but you increase charges almost every opportunity you have.  Your justification is nonsense.  The people who watch the weather channel and weather scan are the very people who DO NOT use online sources and apps.  The AccuWeather channel is inferior to the Weather channel in every way and it uses a very large border and a small picture making viewing less optimum.  The weather scan channel gave us a near real time view of weather transiting the area along with a local detailed forecast. This a business decision not one that is customer friendly or customer driven for other than millennials.  We will explore changing providers at the earliest possible time

So TWC has been gone for over 2 months.

I am doubtful that Verizon will bring it back as neither they nor TWC have stated anything about negotiations in progress.

So we will have to live with Accuweather, Weathernation (if you happen to have a local channel that carries it as a sub channel like I do in VHO4) or find a better weahter source on Internet via PC and/or smartphone or tablet.
