it's times like this living in Florida that I pretty much had the Weather Channel on all the time in the background.. we have a possible major storm coming toward us and I don't know where to go to get live weather that focuses on things like this.. right now the useless Accuweather channel is showing a short clip of weather in Oregon.. I hate that channel so much, it's worthless to me.. it's no more useful than the app I have on my Smart Tv that shows the forecast.. I want live weather back..
Does anyone know a service or anything where we can get the Weather Channel while still being chained to Verizon Fios for another 18 months? i'm tired of being a part of a group considered by them as 'acceptable loss'.. I don't want to be a customer they are willing to lose..

With this many complaints find a way to renew the weather channel or find new customers willing to accept a sad 2nd rate excuse for weather information. We pay a good amount for the channels we love. I can pay less at Cablevision ,but stuck with verizon and now this. News 12 was a fabulous source of information and you offer that SUB STANDARD FIOS and I accepted it. Now this sad excuse for weather. Bring them back or you lose my business I am only one person but I will leave.

When I called to complain about losing the Weather Channel I was told no one watches TV weather any more, they get it from their smart phones. Although I know many people who don't have smart phones
The question I have is why do the local tv stations still broadcast the weather many times a day? Aren't they wasting air time if no one is watching it
OR could it be that FIOS just is money hungry and doesn't want to pay for the weather channel? Now we are facing a hurricane and you can hardly hear anything about it on Accuweather.
I may not be a power user, only paying $220 a month for FIOS with the top speed internet, but when I my contract is up I am switching to Comcast! My neighbor has already started the process.
Also if Comcast will pay my termination fee I would move next week!

It's been 5 months now since Verizon dropped the Weather Channel.... in that time, we've had several severe storms, not to mention several Tornado warnings that Accuweather said nothing about, and currently we are in the middle of Hurricane Season with only Accuweather to rely on. Really great move by the idiot (who should be fired) at Verizon that decided that no one watches the Weather Channel any more and that their programing consisted mainly of "Reality Programs". Verizon should take a long hard look at all the other channels in their channel lineup they provide that are showing these same programs and dump them also. At least when there was a major weather event happening, The Weather Channel would pre-empty their programing and provide round the clock coverage on these events. I was recently in Kentucky and Kansas for business (July and August 2015) and it was a blessing that the Hotel's we stayed in had the Weather Channel in their cable line up with all the severe weather both states were having during those times. Thanks for nothing Verizon.

Keep in mind a couple of things:
1) Verizon has stats as to what channels people are watching. So somone didn't just pull it out of thin air.
2) It was not just a Verizon unilateral decision. It came down to price. Just like it has for the other providers that have dropped TWC (they did eventually come to terms). I will be intersted to see how thing progress as time goes on. I have read several articles that have said that the ratings for TWC have dropped (more than just from losing Verizon).
