The article he provided does make specific reference to Verizon adding the standard MSNBC channel to those areas that have been missing it.

So is the addition the HD channel? and if so, does anyone know what the channel number will be?
I've been getting regular MSNBC for a year already. I'm in zone 8.
thanks

No, it is not the HD channel. It is just the standard channel for those (particularly in the NY area) who have not been able to get it before. The HD channel will be coming at a later date, but no word as to when that will be.

Verizon put out a press release that says,
"HD Coverage: For the first time, the Olympics will be available entirely in HD. Customers will be able to see HD coverage of every event, including alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsled, cross-country, curling, figure skating, ice hockey and snowboarding."
To have the Olympics "entirely in HD" would require MSNBC HD to be added.

Still that PR release does not say that MSNBC HD will be added to your channel lineup. I think if they were adding it, there would be a "message" on the STB. They send messages about all the additions to the channel lineup. It says you will be able to see the HD across "multiple platforms" whatever that means. Maybe you have to watch in HD on your computer.
If MSNBC HD was to be added to everyone's lineup, I think that would be stated VERY clearly, since there are so many requests for it by the appearance of this forum. I would love to be wrong, as I Really Really want MSNBC HD!

Uh no...that footage could be shown on any NBC channel...NBC, BRAVO, UHD, USA...heck even the Sci-Fi Channel (Don't laugh...there is so little SF on there that they can get away with showing it! And I can't go with SyFy). In addition (and more likely), the coverage can also be shown OnDemand. But I do hope MSNBC-HD is added, regardless. BBC-HD too!
