I really don't see this as time to lose our minds just yet. Rainbow is obviously asking for a lot more money, and is using this "pre-emptive strike" as a way to get viewers to threaten Verizon just like everyone here was done. On the other hand, Verizon has pretty much said they have no intention of dropping the Rainbow channels, and negotiations are ongoing.
Please don't drop MAC. I have been streaming NetFlix more and more recently as well as reading books. I could be poached by another provider over something like this.
I sincerely hope this is just basely rumor.
Listen up Verizon, If I can't get AMC"s The WALKING DEAD then I'll have no choice but to return to COMCAST....
I have been a Fios customer for many years. I have had many issues, and if you drop AMC I see no reason to continue service.
Riddle me this? If Verizon drops my very favorite channel - AMC - and I drop Verizon, am I responsible for the termination fee? I mean.. I signed a contract that I would get this channel! I would never have gotten FIOS if they didn't have this channel.. HOW can they break MY contract with them and yet I'm punsihed for breaking MY contract with them? I hear a class action lawsuit in the works...
the "end of the year" is only a month away...
I don't watch much TV but I watch The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Breaking Bad religiously... If I am unable to see the new season in 2013, I will drop Verizon. AMC is the best channel out there... VERIZON entered into a contract with ME and told me I would get this channel.. i really don't care what you have to negotiate for... IF you drop AMC, I will drop Verizon... Wow! a big corporation getting screwed by a big corporation and the little guy STILL suffers.... unreal. Honor your contract and stop the madness...
I like the Walking Dead. My fav. show on TV. Always loved zombies, film and games. Also like Breaking Bad. But I am not stupid enough to drop Verizon because of AMC. I'll just buy The Walking Dead over Xbox Live or PSN.
What else can I do? Go to Comcast/Direct TV? For how long? Until AMC and Comcast/Direct TV also have to renew their contract? Didn't AMC just do this same crap with Dish?
I don't see this as greedy greedy Verizon being greedy. AMC is trying to get the best deal they can. Verizon is also doing the same thing. Though if I had to say which company is the greedier of the two, I'd say it's AMC.
So I'll just buy the episodes over XBL or PSN. May have to wait a few hours, but oh well. I would be ok with paying monthly for AMC like I do HBO though.
What I won't do is the work of a multi million (if not billion) dollar company for free. I will not call and/or email Verizon for AMC. I will not be AMC's tool. If AMC keeps taking their channels from companies like Verizon, how will anyone watch them at all?
I have been a Verizon Fios customer for over two years. I have enjoyed the services I have received with no complaints.
One of the biggest benefits I have enjoyed is having the lengthy list of channels and programs to chose from. The most important of the cable channels being AMC. Their programming is second to none and we are loyal watchers of many of the AMC programs: Mad Men, Walking Dead and the Killing. We have enjoyed them so much we have purchased some them on Blue Ray. If Verizon discontinued offering AMC and WE tv we would immediately seek out alternative cable options and discontinue cable service with Verizon.
I would appreciate Verizon doing everything it can to continue providing customers with these valuable services.
