One correction that the e-mail got wrong... you don't have to select IN-HOME AGENT...the SET TOP BOX EXCHANGE selection is listed directly below the IN-HOME AGENT option. If you select IN-HOME, the EXCHANGE option is not listed.

Some people (not me) have received an email from Verizon saying that around Arpirl 15 there will be some new HD channels, and they will be distributed in MPEG4, which the Motorola QIP6xxx boxes cannot receive. So if you have any of those boxes you can get them replaced for free.
Here is a poorly formatted text copy of the email:
Dear Valued Verizon Customer,
To provide you the very best entertainment experience, Verizon continues to enhance our FiOS®network. We wanted you to be aware of an upcoming change that may impact how you view certain HD channels.
On or after April 15, 2013, we will be making a change to our network which may require that you exchange your current High Definition Set Top Box (STB)** if you want to access the HD channels impacted by this change (list provided below). The exchange is provided at no cost to you. If you choose to exchange your STB, it's a simple process. You can order a new STB directly from your FiOS® TV and we will promptly mail it to you, along with a box and pre-paid label so you can easily return your old STB.
You are not required to exchange your Set Top Box
If you want to view the impacted channels below on or after April 15, 2013, then you may be required to exchange your current Set Top Box at no cost to you
Set Top Box exchange is a simple process - your FiOS TV will guide you through the process in a few easy steps. On or after April 15, 2013, when you tune to one of the impacted channels below, your FiOS TV will recommend you exchange your Set Top Box and show you how to do so
Verizon will ship your new Set Top Box promptly, and include a box and pre-paid shipping label to return your old Set Top Box. We'll also include simple instructions for connecting your new Set Top Box
If you have multiple boxes that are impacted by this network change, your FiOS TV will prompt you to exchange all boxes that require a replacement, again at no cost to you

You can then follow the onscreen prompts to determine if your HD STB(s) must be replaced and submit a STB exchange request.

April 22 has come and went. Where are ALL THE NEW CHANNELS?
For months, rumours of the addition of 'dozens' of channels would happen by 4/22. The mpeg4 change was announced by Verizon .... and seems to have not happened. The G4 to Esquire change was delayed by the channel. But other than that, there is no indication of anything.
Was April 22 just another rumour Or did Verizon have a change of heart?

I see 8 more channels added in the past week or 2 on my CableCARD channel map.
The ones sticking out at the end of the list are Teleamazonas, BeIn Sport en Espanol, and some NBA channels. Not sure if anything else yet.

There are more hd channels on the way that starting in september they will be launching them where many of them will be entertainment channels that will be in spanish and in english. Sony movie channel, espn deportes hd, univision deportes hd and some more .tv channels are a few of the ones on the way. Channels in spanish will launch on the same day for everyone in the country who has fios tv but the ones that are in english will end up taking some time. If you are familiar with how verizon does things then you know it will take a long time for those channels to eventually be added for everyone in the country. Tv guide in hd is something that took almost a year for everyone to end up getting and while that channel is not a big deal for people if how long it took for it to be added for everyone in the country is a indicator of what is to come then those new hd channels additions may not be made available to everyone in the country until next year. So while one part of the country gets to enjoy those channel additions other parts of the country will have to wait a very long time for them to be added. I will caution people about the supposed inside info being put out there by people on other websites because the individuals claiming to be verizon insiders are not really who they claim to be. They are employees of other companies who are trying to get verizon customers to switch to another tv provider where how it works is they say there are 40 hd channels on the way and when it does not happen people take out their anger on verizon thinking that 40 new hd channels were going to be added when in fact that was never the case and decide to switch to another tv provider. If you are familiar with the rumors that are out there every year you will always hear that there is a ton of hd on the way and it never happens. For anyone to claim there is a ton of hd on the way is the first sign it is simply not true because as people know by now hd content has not been a high priority for verizon for quite some time.
