Are there any plans for YES network availability out here in Los Angeles?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

It was nice to have pre and post game coverage on YES on DirecTV before the games. Same for NESN.

Every area is offered thier own regional sports channels. YES is a NY area channel, highly doubtful you will ever see it there.

This isn't worth the keystrokes I am using to write this but I have a friend who works for Verizon who said they are working on a national deal to broadcast YES all over. They hope to have everything done in April. If I hear more I will update this.

Does your friend have any more detailed info on this possibility? If Verizon is negotiating with YES Network, I assume they would be trying to put together a national RSN (regional sports networks) sports package like Direct TV and AT&T U-Verse have.

The only way I would see a benefit myself is if they came with the HD channels, too, and when you bought the major league packages (such as MLB Extra Innings) that you'd get the live HD games outside of the one HD channel that Extra Innings provides. I doubt this would happen though due to the contracts with iN Demand that verizon has now anyway...

I'm assuming that your wife can't get anough of the "Michael Kay Knows Everything" shows and "Mike Francesa KNOWS EVEN MORE" simulcasts then? Smiley Tongue

You do realize that you wouldn't be able to see the live Yankees games anyway unless you purchase the separate AND CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ON FIOS MLB iN Demand Extra Innings package that is going for $169 early bird right now?

Which you can obviously get right now and start watching next week...? Just curious.. Smiley Wink

YankyDave-

This morning, YES HD has shown up here in Delaware out of VHO8 on Channel 595, and is in the guide after I did the "scan 10 days ahead in the guide trick".

This launch is ONLY the HD channel.

I'm not sure if this is related to your rumor that perhaps Verizon was in works for a national agreement to show YES HD across the country. Now, i'm not sure if that's the case yet - but this definitely points to something of the sort.

If anyone else can check 595 in their guides, let me know!

Personally, the Yankees suck (I'm a Phillies fan), but I could totally see an excellent PR opportunity for Verizon if they could state that they offer "America's Team" to their entire FIOS TV footprint. And, having another sports channel in HD fits right into my area of pleasure.

My only remaining questions is, "Will you be able to see Yankees game outside of the NY area, or will it be blacked out?" I have MLB Extra Innings, so I'd see them regardless, but it will be interesting.

I'm in thPhilly area nd saw tonight that YES HD is available and working.  The only thing is that the games are blacked out.  Wonder if there will be an additional charge? By the way, the Phillies got lucky and it will be another 28 years before another one.

Take that back! They'll do it again this year! Just too bad they aren't starting out too well...
