Without having to go channel by channel to create a favorites list, how can i simply have the guide show me only what i am paying for?

It is quite frustrating to have to scroll though all these channels i have no access too.

Under "guide", you cant.

What you need to do is setup and use "favorites", This will only show the channels you designate. Unfortunatly Favorites is the only way to customize.

Yeah, i did mention without using favorites.

It's pretty sad that verizon can;t deliver just what you pay for... it makes the guide utterly useless with so much noise among your actual package. For someone who just wants the prime/lower package, the guide becomes utterly useless.

To make a favorites list means that if they add a channel, you'll never know because the guide is dynamic, a favorites list is not.

there should be an option to sort by subscribed channels. To leave off a function like this is verizon simply wanting you to become so frustrated by the other channels int he list being unavailable that you end up paying more to get them. it's constant advertising in your face that you cant get away from.

as someone who knows programming and interface design pretty well, this is an easy implementation. they can sort by category... the packages simply need to be a category.  or use the function for filtering out porn to filter out unavailable channels.

i cant believe this hasnt been addresses. i am very dissapointed in fios. this is such an obvious feature that is needed in any guide.

Using Favorites works very well, and really doesn't take as much time and effort as you seem to think.

First, FWIW, when FiOS TV first became available in 2005, there was an ability to remove from the Guide the channels you did not subscribe to or want to see, there was no such thing as Favorites. For whatever reason, Verizon chose to remove that function and implement Favorites.

Now to creating a Favorites list. You have several options:

1) Take the time to sit down, go into the Menu, create a Favorites list, and add whatever channels you want. Depending on your service, this could take some time, but it is a one-time effort (unless you have to completely re-initialize your STB).

2) Create a Favorites list containing all channels (quick, one-time step), then as you frun across channels you don't want in the list, use

the Options button to remove them, one at a time.

3) Create a nearly empty list (quick, one-time step), then as you run across channels you decide you want in the Favoirtes list, use the Options button to add them, one at a time.

The net is, you can do most of the work all at once, or at your leisure, whichever you prefer. Or mix and match techniques, however you want.

You might also want to set up your Favorites so they are the default when you hit the Guide button (I recommend this).

And don't forget that you can create up to two Favorites lists for maybe: his and hers, HD or SD, movies and other, whatever way you want.

Here is a link to something I put together a while back that describes using Favorites in fair detail, and there has been virtually no change to the way Favorites work since I wrote it:

http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-TV-Technical-Assistance/Exploiting-FiOS-TV-Favorites/td-p/9935

I encourage you to at least take a look at using Favorites, you may find it really works pretty well after all.

I am a new customer. So far my wife and I love the service (ordering was a nightmare).

The most annoying thing about FiOS TV (and DirecTv) is that there isn't an easy way to filter the guide to show only the channels one subscribes to. Yes, I know. Setup favorites! But it is a pain in the butt. When you are picking favorites, the app doesn't show you which channels you subscribe to and I don't have the list memorized. The channels are in numerical order but the printed material they give you is alphabetical. Ugh. I searched Verizon and found a list that sorted in alpha but the blooming thing doesn't print the whole list! Crap! I had to copy and paste into Excel and then spend an hour cleaning it up so that it didn't print 20 pages. With DirecTv, we would setup the favorites, get an upgrade, and the favorites would be wiped out.

I swear these companies do this on purpose. They are hoping you find a channel you don't get, you want it, and then you upgrade. I like being able to see all the channels. So, I wouldn't want Verizon to change that. It would be nice if they had guies like All Channels, Channels I Get, Favorites 1 and Favorites 2.  It would also be cool if they sent me email when a channel is dropped or added from my package.

I too am a new Fios customer with the Prime TV package and I totally agree with tvjunkie999 and deftspyder - the Guide is annoying as well as useless with the Prime Package - I get about 150 channels, but the guide shows ~ 500 - useless!  Yes, Justin, thanks for your link, but that is not the point. Here's what I/we want - VERIZON PLEASE LISTEN! -

so, based on Justin's earlier post :

#4) Create a Favorites list containing all channels THAT YOU SUBSCRIBE TO (WITH A quick, one-time step).

One step/button - Done - simple!  (then I can use that to remove all the foreign language and other channels I don't watch)

Verizon, please implement this in the next version of the guide!  As deftspyder said, it is not that hard.

Thank you.

You can, if you have IMG 1.9 and not 1.8.

If your area has received 1.9, do the following:

Go into Menu, TV Listings, Video Guide, and near the bottom there will be something like "Last Guide Viewed" or something like that.  Enable that.

Then go into your Guide, hit Options, and one of the Options will be Subscribed Channels.  As long as you don't change the Option (or your STB doesn't reset for some reason like a power outage), it will stay on subscribed channels.

If you still have 1.8, you have to use the tedious Favorites method that you you will have to update every time Verizon changes something with your channel package.

Amen!  I think it is Fios' way of showing us what we don't have access to, so we will want to upgrade.  This definitely doesn't work for me, makes me wish, I'd stayed w/ Comcast...  I've set up a favorites list w/ all the channels we get w/ prime hd, but when we had dvr problems and they had to send us a new one and reset all our boxes, I had 5 TV's that I had to go to individually and enter all of them in again.  What a pain & I still haven't changed two of them.  This feature should be a no brainer, think of your customers Fios!

Thank you, MiMeQu, I had no idea how to stop the guide from defaulting back to all channels! Changed the options in the TV listings settings (Menu > TV Listings > Settings > Last Viewed Guide State > Enable) and now I'm a happy camper 🙂
