how to search or view upcoming movie start times ?  ie, I want to see what movies are on at 8pm tonight

There are a variety of ways to search for programs. You can use the Guide, the Search feature, the online TV listings. You can search by Title, Actor, Channel, Genre. Each of these methods have advantages depending on what you are looking for.

In the example you gave, you have a specific time in mind. For this I usually use the Guide. Press the Guide button. Navigate to the time you want using navigation buttons (Right Arrow, Left Arrow = 1/2 hour; Skip Forward, Skip Back = 1 hour; FF, REW = 1 day). Once you've arrived at the time you want, use the navigation buttons to browse through the available programs (Up Arrow, Down Arrow = 1 channel; CH+, CH- = Page Up/Down). Movies are usually listed in Red.

This is the simplest search method. If it is too simple, there are many other methods.
