Hi,

I viewed a TV program on 12/19/12 around 8:00PM about high school teen depression/issues.  Program showed a high school in NY State that is running a trial program based on internet communication tool lead by a prominent Psychiatrist.

Program also focused on notable events such as Hamilton High school in Ohio and other past tragedies.  I can't remember the details but would like to know the name of the NY school and the program if anyone can help.

The program that you are referring to is a documentary that was made in 2009 that was broadcast again because of the recent tragic events that occurred in connecticut. The name of the documentary is "a cry for help" which was on pbs yesterday from 8pm-9pm on channel 13 in sd or 513 hd in my area. It will air again on friday which is in just a few hours at 1am again on pbs on those same channels under the name a "cry for help" that is on the guide. If you are unable to see it at that time or set it up to tape then you can watch it on the pbs website. Just google "a cry for help" and it will come up as "a cry for help pbs documentary" where you can watch it all on their website if you were to follow the link. It is about a very serious subject matter which is about teenage mental illness and suicide which is happening a lot more with each day that passes because of the internet where you have people who are ending their own lives over it because you have people who are getting off on attacking people online for no reason at all where the people who get personally attacked then choose to either end their own lives or take out their anger on society often in a violent way where you have things like what happened in aurora, colombine or in newtown. Ultimately it boils down to what kind of person is someone? Are you a creator or are you a destroyer? Does someone go around seeking to make people's lives miserable all the time or are they actually trying to do something that is productive that will have a profound impact on people's lives even if they do not get the recognition that they deserve at the end of the day. If the program helps alter one person's perception about life where it could prevent the next tragedy from happening then airing again was worth it.

I never saw this response even though it was a while ago since i do not look at comments after i have made them. When there were issues with the guide or when people wanted to know if bein sport was going to be added i went back and helped people out then and also when there was some international content that i wanted added i also went back and added to those comments. It was no problem at all helping you out and if you ever need to go back and look at something that was on a while ago there are some online guide providers who will go back so far as to a month ago. When someone helps you out or does something that is to your benefit often what happens is that people give out a kudo as a way of saying thanks. The bullying issue that was on that program that often leads to people acting out violently or doing something to themselves because of a group of people ganging up on that one person is a real issue that happens more and more these days. It used to be people would use the phrase "going postal" to refer to a mailman who loses his mind and then takes it out on his co-workers where there are tragic consequences where now there are a lot of people who could fall into that category with what is going on in the workplace and at schools nowadays. People will never know until it is too late if someone had to deal with those kind of things say the previous night where that person then shows up the next day to a workplace, a school or anywhere else to take out that anger that was building up inside over the fact that you had a bunch of people who decided to insult someone online where no one did anything to prevent it and only saw it as nothing more than entertainment for themselves. Bottom line is words have consequences for the people who are on the receiving end of them where as the psychiatrist on that program indicated there is a line that should never be crossed but more and more these days it is not just about crossing that line and saying something or doing something cruel it is all about people trying to destroy other human beings where often you have someone who is inciting people to do it where if one day someone is never to be heard from again then chances are that person chose to go the route of doing something to themselves rather than taking it out on other people. There is a movie out there called "bully" that you can rent where it is a documentary about people who love to attack people online and that it shows several stories about the consequences of what happens when people do that to other people. The movie shows the aftermath of how families of those people who chose to take their own lives over being bullied have to deal with no longer having a loved one in their lives. If you need a synopsis of it check it out on imdb where it will be described as "a documentary on peer to peer bullying." On the poster on imdb you will see the phrase "it's time to take a stand" where if more people were to do that then you would not have as many of these tragedies occurring as often as they are where someone who could have done something but chose not to do anything can not say that they were shocked and saddened by something when it was unfolding right before their very own eyes.
