verizon allow a different channel in various states, for less cost

Verizon is scamming customers, by allow different channel line ups in various localities in Virginia, and other states along the east coast and west coast.

I think it is unfair that consumers have to pay for Extreme channel line ups just to view TV one for example.

Also they also allow premium viewers to watch the same 20 year old movies at a beyond limit price.  The same movies can be viewed on many times on regular TV, and other channels especially  TBS. It's horribly despicable that these rates are extreme. the average cost of triple play for extreme service is $2400.00, with discounts annually.

$2400.00 annually.  just for extreme with premium channels, and their discount.  Sadly, the tax rates are not fixed, and each monthly bill changes between 5-10 dollars or more.

sincerely,

Fed up consumer (

Not really as you specify.

All the National channels are the same

RSN vary by which area you are in but includes all areas (assuming verizon carries them at all) wherever that RSN claims as its region.

Locals are carried wherever they claim they are local.  Must carried are always carried and Verizon carries most (all?) other primary OTA channels.  Secondary OTA (subchannels) are ofthen but not always carried.

Premium channels content are whatever those channels HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Showtime, etc., want them to be.  Verizon is not in control of any channels content except Verizon One (available only in limited areas).

TNS, I agree with what you said but I think the first point of the OP rant about the channel make-up of the various tiers. In other words the Extreme tier in NYC gets different channels (i.e.more and I am not talking about the local regional channels) than someone subscribing to the Extreme tier in say Virgina. It's true, I believe the tier offerings (and prices) are more in response to the competition in the various regions rather than being uniform through all the Verizon service area.

NYC market has always been different that the res of the FIOS area.
I beleive it was done to compete with Cablevision.

They got deals on DVRs, pricing etc.

I believe the rest of us were pretty much consistent though with the exception of local channels.
