16:9 widescreen Guide

According to this tech blog on dallas news.com (http://techblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/10/answers-from-our-verizon-fios.html) Verizon is working on getting the guide to 16x9 fullscreen.  I have been waiting for this to happen!  Its a waste of screen to not go fullscreen.  And I don't want to hear all the excuses of why it isn't or can't be done, because as a former dish user, I KNOW it can be done!

Anyone have any more info on this development? Thanks!

It can be done. You just need to change the video settings in the SD option to none I think. But it will not upscale to 420p, and it will stretch you SD image to 16:9, and will only work on SD channels. In my opinion it is a **bleep**ty way to do it, and looks like crap.

No, I don't mean a streched 16x9 guide.  I mean a TRUE 16x9 NATIVE guide!  Like Dish Network's guide.  It's a full 16x9 widescreen native guide.  If you read the above link you will read about how Verizon supposedly is working on a new STB that will sport a true 16x9 guide.  I just wondered if anyone had anymore info on this?

No news on it, but I'm looking forward to it.  It seems silly to have an HD service with an already crowded guide jammed into 4x3 on my 16x9,

I have the same complaint, among many others, with the guide.  The FIOS TV guide is a joke.  I've had WAY better with Tivo and Directv for YEARS!  Much better guides have been around for YEARS!  {please keep your posts courteous}

Before my post was edited, I said Verizon is trying to reinvent the wheel and they are NOT DOING A GOOD JOB at it.  Sorry if that was not courteous.

Why is the guide such a problem??? Lack of info, incorrect info, 4:3 display even on an HD Receiver!!!  Seriously, MUCH better have been around for MANY years!  FIOS is great cutting-edge technology both for internet and TV, so why completely ruin the experience with something so simple that every other company does better???
