Advice for my CableCard iinstallation tomorrow

Hello-I have a Fios tech coming to the house to do a CableCard activation/pairing with a TiVo Series 3. Is there any advice you can give me that I can pass onto the Tech in order to make his (and my) life easier? Maybe a checklist of things to do during the pairing process? From past experiences with other cable providers, hooking up a Cablecard can be a real big headache for everyone involved. Right now, all I'm planning to have him do is install *one* CableCard into the TiVo Series 3. I realize my TiVo accepts dual cards, but it's a secondary TV and I don't need/want to pay for a second card. If installing just one in the Series 3 creates problems, let me know. Thanks for your help.

I assume you have the discontinued TiVo Series3 model and not the current TivoHD.  On the newer TivoHD, one CableCard supports both tuners.

With just one CableCard installed, the older TiVo Series3 model will operate in single-tuner mode.

CableCards are less of a hassle with FiOS, because Verizon doesn't pair their CableCards to a specific device.  Once activated, Verizon's CableCards will work in any CableCard device; they can be moved from one CableCard device to another without a service call.

Inside the box, there's a piece of paper that explains the proper installation of your cable cards. I handed mine to the installer and he was in and out in less than 30 minutes. It's completely effortless if he just follows the simple instructions. Good luck!
