After 1.9.1 DVR Change?

After I received the 1.9.1 update a couple of days ago on my MRDVR, I have noticed that while playing a recorded program and when I want to go back to the last channels I was watching, I am only able to go back to one channel. Previously I have always been able to hit the Last button on my remote and go back and forth between two channels. I was even able to rewind two programs. Now when I hit the last button, it either goes to one previous channel or the recorded program I was watching. I try to remember the other channel I was watching, and if I change straight to it I can still rewind that channel. I hope this is just a glitch or I can perhaps change some setting? I have throughly looked through settings and haven't found anything relating to this. I don't understand why a change was needed for this, it was why I didn't like Optimum's DVR. Any suggestions or comments? Much appreciated.

This is a "new feature", not to be construed as a defect....

Most of the comments I have seen about this change are positive, people that have tried it like it. As far as I know there is no setting to change how it works.

I personally prefer the new way Last now works when I am watching a recording.

I have yet to hear much positive about it. I thought that's what the DVR button and Recordings menu is for, playback and resume play. The Last button was always to switch to the last live channel we are watching. What's even worse is even when anyone stops a recorded program from playing and hit Last, it just resumes play on the recorded program. It doesn't even allow going to the last channel a viewer was watching. I wish they at least had an option to revert back to the way it was. I can see this causing a problem with those of us that have multiple people in a household using the DVR, losing their place on a recorded show. It's happened to us a few times already. Having to rewind and seeing parts of a show I haven't gotten to yet because someone pressed Last to go the previous channel.

Have you seen anything negative about it? I don't remember seeing anything negative so far.

I wish I had something to suggest to get around it, but I don't. That is just the way it is now. So I think you are going to need to get used to it, I doubt Verizon is going to change it back, at least not in the near future. But who knows.....

As I said, I really prefer it the way it is now.

These recent changes to the Media Guide are fantastic. How somebody could be unhappy with them in beyond me. Getting right back to where you left a recorded program with "Last" button instead of having to go through all the menu scrolling has been long overdue. Thank you for that! Also, fast forwarding on a recorded program now slows down last minute instead of just ending. This is also a great improvement. Now, if only Fios would make the 2X FF REALLY 2X speed instead of WAY faster than 2X would be another GREAT improvement. This would be a great asset to sports fans in particular who want to catch up on an event in FF but actually be able to see it. This is still a major bug in my opinion. Please look into that Fios. Also, a less significant bug in my opinion is the minimum 10 seconds on the "Previous" button is not low enough. Make it 5 seconds so that when you just need to hear something you might not have heard you don't have to go back 10 full seconds. It's not a major flaw but just seeking improvements. Anyway, good job on the recent upgrades..........

I agree that there are some terrific new features.

I am not at home so I can't actually check on my DVR but I am pretty sure that the minmum for Previous is 4 seconds, and has been for a long time. It could be that you need to scroll to see the 4 second option, not sure. Please go check again (because I am not going to be back home for three days so I can't do it myself).

I just checked Justin on my DVR which is the new Motorola (500gb) QIP 7232 and the "Prev" or "replay" options are 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute and 5 minutes. 4 seconds wouls be perfect. Hope this will be considered in the future.

I'm glad you like it, and hope they keep it for you, but I certainly don't like it. I hope a setting is made to have it the way it was. I can't imagine it being too difficult to implement. I've had dozens of TV, cable, and universal remotes for decades and all of them have always had their Last button go back to the last channel I was viewing. Just as it has always been on FIOS til this change. It's odd that the Last button would have anything to do with the DVR, since it's already has it's own many buttons and menus. Seems repetitive.
