Re: Anybody know where to find a Verizon list online of known outages or problems? Is there one?

I find it hilarious that you were flagged for abuse for not marking a solution. While I'm not completely opposed to this practice as it is very frustrating for regular contributors who take their time to help others, only to see that the OP never acknowledges the work. On the other hand, if your issue wasn't solved, then it wasn't solved. While I'm thrilled to have another solution, if you so choose, you can revoke the solution and leave it unsolved. I believe that this can be done under the Options drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner of my post. Or if you choose, you can consider another post for the solution, such as Hubrisnxs's post. I don't know if the Network Diagnostic test would actually report local outages if there were some, but it does claim to possess that information. I'll leave it up to you.

Flagged for Abuse, now that's funny! :smileylol:

As for "solution" - as I noted, outages were just part of my question. "Known Problems or issues" is what doesn't seem to be anywhere (not even readily available to the technical support agents).

I'll just stick with the partial being shown as a solution on the basis of it at least being helpful to those reading who were not aware of same. I was aware of that part, but the only time I had a serious outage, which was total (TV, phone, internet) and lasted all day there was no notice of that outage posted for many hours. (in case you're wondering how I knew that, I used my phone to access internet to try to resolve ... also to communicate with the rest of the world that day).

closest things you will find to an outage is through their in home agent software.

on the set top box click menu>customer support>in home agent>network diagnostic.  one of the first checks are for outages.   OR the actual software  www.verizon.com/inhomeagent

they do have an outage page but it doesn't seem to ever be updated and it's at www.verizon.com/outage

Yes I had forgotten the network diagnostics test will show you if there are servers down. Once I spent close to two hours trying to activate a STB, online and on the phone, when I found the diags, and had to tell the CSR their server was down! The response was "you are correct, try back in the morning, sorry".Smiley Frustrated

After that I should have remembered. But then again I have been running Microsoft Media Center,  eight tuners on two PCIe cards, and five extenders for the last six months.Smiley Tongue

Late at night after 11pm - my hbo channels blurr and pixalate - the digital signal degenerates and becomes boxes and then goes black - this does not happen on the other cable channels - that is, I can get NBC clearly then I change back to the pay for movie channels - Sundance - and the picture is black - what is the PROBLEM.  I'm about to change to Commast - I'm outside of Washington, DC in Arlington, Virginia.

Ernie - I suggest you start a separate thread for your problem so people will see it (buried here within a more general topic). Maybe a title something like "late night problems with HBO/Sundance reception".  There are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people here but they do need to see your question. Hope you get your problem resolved, sounds frustrating. (and sorry I can't help)
