We have a little issue that the audio is a split second delayed, but only on HD channels. Any ideas?

If you are running the audio through a home theater reciever and your TV at the same time try tunring the volume down or off on your TV.
If you havea 72XX HD DVR there have been many different audio issues reported for that model and you would do best to request a 6416 HD DVR from Verizon.
Reboot (unplug the replug in) your HD STB.
Call Verizon
