Audio delay between boxes and dvr???

Any idea why the sound would be off on different sets around the house. If the same channel is on in the living room and in my kitchen, the audio in the living room (dvr) is 5 - 10 seconds behind the audio in the kitchen. Drives me crazy. Double crazy if I'm listening to a music channel (remember singing in rounds when you were a kid?). Can this be remedied???

There's really no such thing as "liveTV" with a DVR.
With a DVR, the currently tuned channel is continuously recorded to the hard disk (this is known as a buffer), then read off the hard disk and decoded for output to your screen and speakers. This allows you to use pause, instant replay, and rewind on whatever channel you are watching, but it also produces a 1-5 second delay from liveTV.
