Blinking colon in STB clock display

I apologize in advance for how picky I'm sure this will sound.

I sat down to watch TV today, but my eye kept being drawn back to my set-top box. I have it set to display the clock, and I like that. However, today the colon between the hours and the minutes is blinking once a second. I'm pretty sure it didn't do that before, because I would have been used to it- now it makes me react like... well, like one reacts to a blinking light on something. It distracts me because before now the display would only blink if something was happening.

Looking at the settings I see now that I can set it to turn the display off entirely when I turn the box off, which is a nice option- one I looked for when I first got it- but now I am used to the clock. I just want the blinking to stop!

Yes, it is only the colon, and yes, it's something that many clocks do, but it's an unneccesary change and I don't like it. Is there anything I can do, aside from hoping that I get used to it?

Also, can anyone else confirm that  this is actually a change, rather than me going crazy? Thank you.

Ha, I always love the day when I notice that on my electronics. I don't think it's anything new.

I can't vouch for your STB, but I know for a fact that on all of mine the colon in the time has been blinking for 4+ years. One reason is that at certain times of the day the only way to know for sure that it is time vs. channel number (eg, 508) is the blinking colon, and at times Verizon has had problems getting the clock to actually show when it should as opposed to showing the channel number.

I am not aware of anything you can change about the colon, if you want to see the time you will see the blinking colon (at least that is and has been true for me).

Got new glasses lately? Smiley Very Happy (sorry, just couldn't resist...)

It's been blinking for about a year now, ever since IMG 1.6, before that it didn't blink, but where have you been the past year? Smiley Wink
