Well, I see nothing wrong with a full-screen guide myself. But if you don't like it, that's what the mini guide option is for.

Directv's full guide takes up the entire screen with a pip box like the Fios one. Tivos guide doesn't have a box, and you can only see the edges of the screen. But all offer guide options that take up less of the picture.

There are several iterations of the guide available, so you might experiment a bit to see if there is a format more compatible with your viewing needs. Additionally, you can make the guide disappear anytime you want by hitting the exit button. If you are using a DVR, you can pause the program while you peruse the guide in order to not miss any of the show.

That anoyings me too. The stupid interface is now HALF the **bleep** screen on my HDTV. Its so cluttered, so terrible.

The  device is so slow now. I will have to find a fios store or whatever they are so i can drag these boxes down there immediately and demand they replace them or keep them and cancel my service.

So much for FIOS being the best... {word filter avoidance}? How can you take such a great service and destroy it ? {please keep your posts courteous}

I tried again last night to speak with a tech from verizOn waited on the phone for an hour and then when they came on, I couldn't even understand the person and his accent. I went o my friends house and her verizon screen is smaller than mine, and when it first came on she had the options to set it up for hdtv and a regular old tv, her guide didnt' have the extra line on the bottom of the pop up. The verizon guy last night told me all sorts of stories, he wouldn't even tried to reset the boxes, like the woman did the day before, I am giving it one last chance,calling them again today. I don't even what to watch tv now and flip thru the channels too aggravating watching the pop ups, I am trying to convince myself to go without tv...cancel it and see if I can live thru it.

I fixed the slow guide on a 6416 by switching SD OVerride.

Fios remote control :
Menu>settings>video settings.
Choose SD Override, and switch it to OFF.
IF it's already on off - then please select 480i

This one setting has great success in speeding up the channel to channel changing, and menu options for me with teh img and the older box.   give it a whirl

The new guide is a huge step backward.  What were supposed to be the advantges to this new interface - I can't find any.  Is there any way to go back to the old guide - it was easier to read, easier to navigate and much faster.

No there is not. The old guide simply did not take advantage of newer widescreen tvs, both in its graphical quality, and amount of information you can fit on a widescreen panel. Not saying it's the best designed guide, but I personally did not want a non-true hd guide on my new tv for years to come, especially with a cutting edge service like Fios.
