Verizon swapped out my STB last week after the first one failed to play any movies on demand. I'm a new Version FIOS triple play customer, a convert from Comcast (NJ) about a month ago.
Question: New STB arrived in the nice big Verizon box, I plugged it in aok, it activated aok, and everything seems to work just fine, EXCEPT the remote control does not work at all, I tried both the new one that came in the box and the old one (actually only one month old). I know where the LED is located just above the box's remote label, but it never LIGHTS up at all. I spent about an hour trying varying things, never worked, nada. I swapped back in the old STB and it works fine, remote controls and all, except for movies $$ of course.
Do I really have another bad STB?

I turned off the TV entirely, along with dozens of other attempts of get the remote to work. The LED on the new STB never blinked, I tried multiple Remote controls, pointed them right at the LED from point blank range, and from varing distances. The old STB works fine, the remote LED sensor blinks as expected. I'm going to stay with the old STB, no $movies, but at least the Remote Control works. Does verizon have a STB that works, these units (model 2500) are crap. I've been a VZ customer since late February, does it get any better then this?
