Building my own DVR/PVR

I just recently purchased a DViCO FusionHDTV7 dual express and it doesn't seem to work with FIOS TV.

This thing says its a DVB-T or something like that so I don't think its compatible.

I can only see analog channels when I install their software in XP and I can't seem to see anything in MythTV on my Ubuntu machine.

Anyhow, will a Silicondust HDHomerun work with FIOS?

I don't have an SD TV if that matters, but I do have an SD STB.

I'm not sure of what format the channels are broadcast in. The terms ATSC/NTSC/QAM are unfamiliar to me and I just want to get this thing up and running. I'd stick with a pc tuner or get a stand alone like the HDHomerun but I just need to know whats compatible. I would assume I would be connecting the device directly to my STB too right?

These are the options listed on the FusionHDTV7 for reference:

1. The world first dual high definition ATSC/ QAM/ NTSC reception PCI express card.
2. Two HD channel (ATSC or QAM) reception/ display/ recording simultaneously.
3. One HD and one analogue reception/ display simultaneously.
4. Dual tuner PIP (Picture-in-picture) and multi-view with two different channels.
5. The real-time-clock (RT) function to support power-on-PC recording.
6. Lowest heat emission in non operating mode for eco-system.
7. Supporting all kinds of ATSC format.
8. True HD time-shifting with FF/ REW/ Positioning.

The key here is that it lists QAM tuner capability which is the correct modulation type for FiOS.  That being said, the only channels you will be able to receive directly from the cable are the local SD, local digital (HD), PEG (public, education, and government), the music channels, and a couple of others.  You will not be able to get any of the national channels like ESPN, USA, FX, Sci-Fi, etc. Depending on the tuner you will find the HD locals either re-mapped to something like 3.1 for channel 3 HD main channel or in the QAM range of 71.xx to 75.xx. The local SD should be in the 63.xx to 65.xx QAM range.  Music choice is on QAM 66 (48 sub-cahnnels) and the Urge Music channels are on QAM 84.xx (again 48 sub-channels). PEG channels vary by market.

I believe these are the same for all locations, but YMMV.

If you connect to the STB you will get whatever it can tune - remember that the RF output on an SD STB is mono audio.  May have misunderstood your original question, my original answer was regarding what the tuner in the FusionHDTV7 could tune hooked directly to the FiOS cable since you listed its features as including a QAM tuner.

Ok so I got the tuner working. I can just connect an s-video cable from my cablebox directly to the tuners input and it works pretty good. I can see every single channel I can see on the box. Next question: Can I just use Firewire from the QIP6200-2 to my box and record that way or does Verizon do 5c on channels?

Verizon uses 5C on its cable channels.  You can connect Firewire to your PC to record local channels.
