Channels change themselves, one DVR, in apartment

Our DVR keeps randomly changing the channel, even with batteries out of the remote, and even after a reset.  We have only one DVR / STB.  Is it possible that an apartment neighbor's remote, if they also have Verizon and a same/similar DVR remote, could be changing our channel with their remote?  What can be done to prevent that?  The apartments have living rooms all next to each other through the walls.  Thanks.

Not likely as remote requires line of sight and has to be pointed to front of box.

Do you have anything on top of STB that might accidentally be pushing some of the buttons?
