DVR Expander, E-SATA, now reading as having no recordings?

My drive (a WD one on the list of approved drives) was approximately 30% full. Sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning an update turned off all STBs in the house.  Now all of my DVR expander programming is gone, and it does not show that it is online.  Anybody else have this issue recently?

I tried the auto-fixes, re-enabling the external storage, verified the connections.  The last thing I can try is to see if I can get to the power button in the Expander itself, it is in the back of a closet with a ton of gear and not readily accessible.   Just seeing if this is a widespread, systemic issue.   Thanks

Something similar happened to me after an update (about 4 weeks ago), the self-diagnistic and trying to reinstall through the dvr did not work either. As a last resort I completely disconnected expander from the dvr, then turned it off using the expander power button and finally unplugged/disconnected everything (esata connection, power cord, everything). I then reinstalled the expander as if it were new. For some reason that did the trick, when I powered the dvr back on it recognized the drive and I did not lose any recordings. Don't know why but it worked.

I will give this a try over the weekend, and this time I am going to move the expander drive to where I can get to easier.  Thanks Bobbo !
