DVR Expander

Have a Motorola QIP7216 - looking to add the DVR Expander.

Purchased a My Book Essential 2TB WDBACW0020HBK-SN -- which I think the only thing that doesn't match from the recommended ones, is one digit (and think that's related to 2TB vs 1TB)

This device has only a USB connection for the back of the DVR box -- so I would like to know if the only devices that are or will be supported as those that have the eSATA connection? It appears that those devices are more difficult to locate, most can only be ordered online and they cost more than the 2TB ..

Any information would be appreciated. When I followed the menu options on the IMG - it looked like it was being recognized, but device doesn't appear as hardware for my DVR options.

Thanks!

There is NO support for USB devices on any of the Verizon Set Top Boxes, DVR or otherwise. The only thing you can use the USB port for is power to recharge something like a Cell phone. External storage MUST be E-SATA, period.

Thank You.

I will return and look for an eSATA-compatible device.

Just hooked up a Seagate 500MB (SATA) to my 7216 and it works great. Used a
VANTEC NexStar 3 Hard Drive Enclosure- 3.5” SATA to USB2, eSATA . Also tried a
ULTRA – 3.5” SATA to USB2, eSATA enclosure. Worked OK but had some fan noise (needs a new fan). Try TigerDirect for any of the above items.
