DVR - Issues with Reliable Recording

During the past few months there have been major reliability issues regarding recording shows on my DVR.  Sometimes shows are not recorded that were scheduled.  More frequently, only small portions of the show are recorded. One time, I found that one of my shows was immediately deleted for recording less than 20 seconds!  This is not directly a show parameterization issue.  I have had DVRs for years and have reduced issues related to that.  (except the fact that the new SVU shows on Wed night always only record the last half of the show!)   Anyone else having these reliability issues?

Any help or advice is appreciated.  Should I ask for a new box?

Thanks!

Check your DVR capacity. The most likely cause is a full hard drive with too many protected recordings.

Along this same vein, check the All Activities (History) folder and see what if any reasons are given for why your missing shows aren't recording.

Go into your menu with remote and delete all of the shows you've previously deleted and then also

under "recent deletes" delete all of them too. This will free up space that might be still occupied.

  Good luck!
