DVR Scheduled Recordings Disappeared

Seemed to happen around the same time the clocks reset because of DST... all of my scheduled series are still entered into the DVR, but the DVR manager shows no scheduled recordings.  Still the DVR does not allow me to record one of these shows because it says the show is already scheduled, but nothing actually shows up as recorded.  I've tried resetting the boxes, the router, and went through everything else in the self diagnosis section of the settings.

Anyone know what to do here?

I've seen this happen to individual series, but not all at once. Sometimes the Guide shows a scheduled recording, but the DVR menu does not, or vice versa. It won't let you set up individual recordings because it claims to already be set up. But you don't actually know whether a show will be recorded until it starts. Short of canceling and then rescheduling each series, give this "cure all" a try when you are not currently recording something:

Choose one of the following (they are all the same):

Menu > Customer Support > Fix FiOS TV Issues

Menu > Customer Support > In-Home Agent > Fix FiOS TV Issues

Menu > Customer Support > In-Home Agent > Set Top Box Auto Correction

Regardless of which option you choose, they all lead you to the same place. After entering the Set Top Box Auto Correction menu, use the navigation arrows to highlight Auto Correct My STB/DVR, then press the OK button, then press the Right Arrow button. On the second page use the navigation arrows to highlight your DVR, pressing the OK button, then press the Right Arrow button again. Now on the third screen press the Right Arrow again. Your DVR will reset. Check your Scheduled Recordings.

Hope this helps.

typo above: "pressing the OK button" should read "press the OK button". You do not have to press and hold the OK button.

My previously recorded progams all disappeared. The DVR box has been making a 'whirring' sound for a couple weeks. Is it worn out?

Hi cityslic,

Your posting is off topic in this thread. The OP was discussing Scheduled Recordings that were not recording. However, I will try to help.

It does sound like your hard drive is going or has gone bad. Not necessarily because of the sound, but losing your recordings without having them overwritten by others or someone in your home erasing them is a pretty sure sign of a box malfunction. First thing to check would be the All Activity (History) folder to see if there is any reason given for why the recordings are gone (e.g., a devious member of your household erased them). Then check your Recently Deleted folder to see if they are recoverable. If there are no clues here, then I would follow the instructions above to perform an STB Auto Correct.

If they are still missing, then one question to answer before you call Verizon to get a replacement DVR: Do you have an external eSATA expansion drive attached? If you do, then it could be this drive that has gone bad, rather than the DVR's internal drive. If you don't, then it's time to call 1(800)VERIZON or go to their online chat under the Support/Contact Us tab above. They will probably run your through the reset and Auto Correct as well. But they will probably set you up for an exchange when you get done.

If this answer doesn't suit you, you might want to consider doing a forum search for recordings, disappeared, missing, erased, etc. Or, post your question in a new topic where it will be less confusing for responders to understand what exactly your issue is.

Hope this helps.
