I thought I had heard that you can program your DVR from your computer if you are not home, is this true? If so, how do you do this?

You need to go to FiOS TV CENTRAL and enable remote DVR function.  Requires a Verizon log-in (your verizon.net email and password).

The FiOS TV Remote DVR in the ‘Settings’ menu allows the user to browse and search TV Listings, DVR and Parental Controls, and viewing featured VOD Titles using Verizon Wireless Mobile device or Web connected PC. This feature is available only to FiOS HM-DVR Customers (2708, 6416 and 7216).

Web Access

The user can perform the ‘FiOS TV Remote DVR’ operation by following the steps below:

  1. Go to ‘Main Menu’
  2. Select ‘Settings’ menu
  3. Select ‘FiOS TV Remote DVR’ from the ‘Settings’ menu
  4. Select ‘Web Access’ and Press OK
  5. Enter Parental Control Lock and Press OK
  6. The Web Access will be enabled and gives a User ID and Password that the user can use to browse the TV Listings, VOD Titles, DVR in the website mentioned in the screen through the Mobile or PC.
  7. Press OK on Web Access again and it will display the options Disable and Close.
  8. Select Disable and Press OK will ask a confirmation to disable the Web Access with Yes or No. Select Yes to disable the access or select No.
  9. From Web Access, Select Close to close the options and come back to the previous screen.

The only correction to what VZ_Frank said is you dont have to have the HM-DVR, its available to all DVR users.
