DVR to HDTV setup

I recently purchased an LG 1080p LCD HDTV to receive HD programs through my QIP6400 series DVR.  I plan to run a HDMI cable from the STB to the TV.  I am also connecting a DVD player to the TV set via component cables.  What else, if anything, should I do to to setup the STB to work properly with the HDTV?  Is connecting the TV to the STB with an HDMI cable sufficient for both HD and non-HD channels?  I am looking for the best connectivity and want to be alert to any obstacles that may arise.  Any advice is truly appreciated.

The HDMI cable from STB to TV should be fine. You will be able to watch SD and HD TV with no problem.
