What is the differene between the 7216 and 6416 STB? Having a problem with the 7216 and VZ sent me a 6416 as a replacement.

The 7216 is essentially a 6416 with a newer CPU. The newer CPU isn't any faster, but it does add support for MPEG-4. At this time, FiOS does not have any MPEG-4 channels on their system, so this capability is not used. Verizon may take advantage of that capability in a few years.
Some people feel that the QIP7216 produces slightly better quality on SD channels (same on HD channels), although the software on the QIP7216 does exhibit more issues. For now, the QIP6416 is generally considered to be the more stable of the two Verizon DVRs.
