Different HD DVR Box

I got a new receiver, an Onkyo NR807, that has handshake issues with my FIOS Motorola HD DVR QIP 7216.  After 30 seconds or so the tv screen goes green.  Others who own this receiver, and hook up the receiver via HDMI, have the same problem.  Does Verizon have another box I could try that might work better?

The other HD DVR is the 6416-2, however it is unlikely that it will make any difference. You may get a solutions with the next firmware release (if you don't already have 1.7). HDMI support on the Motorola Boxes remains a work in progress for Verizon.

In the mean time, just use the component video output. If you use decent component Video cables, there should be no difference in image quality between the HDMI and component video.

My tv has another HDMI input, so I just ran a HDMI cable from the FIOS box to the tv, but am I missing out on any upconversion by doing that?  For audio I ran an optical cable from the FIOS box to my receiver.  Will that be as good as if I had the receiver hooked up via HDMI?

The STB itself  upconverts to 1080i or 720p, depending on how you have the resolution set and what you have the SD override set to.  I doubt your receiver upconverts from 1080i to 1080p, so you're not really missing anything, and if you were, it's not likely you can see it.
