To answer your question: No. I do on very rare occasions see some brief macroblocking, never that bad though, and usually only for 1/2 second or so. And no, it is not normal, my experience is that the FiOS picture quality on all HD channels is outstanding. The SD channels have even been improved in the 6 months or so it seems to me (I think the SD improvement actually occured with getting IMG 1.9 but I am not really sure).

If I were seeing that, especially if it is consistently on one or two channels, I would check all of the coax connections, from the ONT to the splitter to the wall outlet to the TV. I would remove and reconnect each. Who knows, it might help.

I've never experienced this myself.

We see it on some SD channels. Hallmark, Nuvo and Famnet to name a few. The last 2 channels we did not have with our old provider so I don't know if this is an issue of the signal not being MPEG2 or what have you. Hallmark has been bad(macroblocking once an hour). That  may not be a lot but we NEVER had macroblocking when we had our old provider. We did have someone out here recently who reduced the dB coming in from 11 to 3. He also put in a 3 way splitter. Apparently the original installation had a 6 splitter. The tech said if you only use 3 of the 6 it causes the signal to bleed out.
