Does my HD DVR need to be replaced?

My HD DVR keeps freezing and then going to a black screen.  I have rebooted the router and HD DVR (by turning off and unplugged each unit for 30 seconds) on several occassions which seems to temporarily solve the problem.  However, the problem continues.  Also, if I only turn the power off to the DVR and then touch 'menu' to continue it keeps going back to a few seconds before the freeze and then freezing in the same spot even though I'm watching live TV.  None of the other TVs or STBs in the house exhibit this problem.  Does my HD DVR need to be replaced?

Distinct possiblity that there is some sort of  unrecoverable error on the HDD or the connection to the splitter, and each time the DVR gets the error, it doesn't handle the error very gracefully.

The other thing to try is to swap the location of one of the STB's with the DVR, and see if the problem stays in the same place, or follows the DVR. It it stays in the same place, it is a connection problem, and you probably need to re-seat the connector for the coax both at the DVR end and at the splitter.

If it follows the DVR, it is probalby time to get a replacement DVR from Verizon.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll give that a try.  Unfortunately, I do not have another HD TV in the house at the moment and I don't think the HD DVR has an SD output.  I'll probable try to put another of the STB in the place of the HD DVR and see what happens.
