Yes I know asked and answered but most questions are like a year old...AND I just spoke to verizon this week and was assured that YES you just plug in an external HD to the USB port and you will have the extra space, and you just choose which disk to record on - internal or external.
He put me on hold while he "contacted" tech support...anyone know if this is true? The only thing holding me back is the limited space at this point.
thanks

You were probably speaking to a salesperson, he/she would promise you the moon.
Short answer: no.

Like kevinb said. Short answer is no.
At present there are no active ports on Verizon's STBs. This includes USB, Ethernet, and E-SATA. There are rumors of this changing but that is all they are with no promise from Verizon as to if or when this will happen (rumor has it by the end of the year - not saying which year though ). Unfortunately, Verizon's phone support people are often misinformed.
