Extreme HD -- ordering

Would like to have the new HD channels offered on Extreme HD, but the representative tells me that I can only get it by cancelling our current "triple play" plan and replacing with an "extreme" triple plan.  This presents multiple problems.  First, there is the cancellation charge for the existing plan.  Second, the new plan would have internet of 20/5 -- an upgrade for some but not for me since we already subscribe at 15/15.  Finally, while we love our FIOS service, when it was new it took Verizon a while to get it right and I am concerned about "starting from scratch" again.  Hopefully at some point the Extreme channel line up will be offered as an upgrade, just like I could add Showtime if I wanted to, without canceling and starting a whole new triple package from scratch (they did offer a new "double" package so my internet service could stay at 15/15 but then we would lose the bundle discount).  I guess this is just growing pains for FIOS.  Mostly we are happy with it.

You may need to call and talk to someone else.

I just upgraded my service and it was quite painless.  You certainly shouldn't have to pay a "cancellation charge" when you change your plan.  That's just rediculous.

I'm not sure about the internet in your situation.  I went from 15/2 -> 20/5, so it was certainly an upgrade.  15/15 is nice, but is 20/5 that much worse for you?

Also... you can add and cancel those premium channels at any time without having to worry about restarting your contract/package!  I'm on my second 1-month free of HBO/Cinemax/Movie package and they can cancel that any time without affecting your main plan.  The rep you spoke to is a moron and should be reported.

Thanks for the comments.  FWIW, I did talk to a second rep, who at first said I could upgrade to the "Extreme HD" channel lineup for $10 per month but when I told him that was agreeable to me, he came back and said in fact it cannot be done -- that it would be necesary to change to a new package.  I am just wary of doing that right now for reasons described above.  It was explained that the "early termination fee" would be credited back to me, but I think I will sit tight right now.

I too just "rebundled" with no pain.  Boosted internet, added eHD xtreme, added long distance coverage, and saved $25 a month like they said I would.  I did not believe it unitl I saw it on my bill this month.

I currently have Fios TV with all the movie channels Internet at 20/20 and the rep told me if I want the new HD channels I have to down grade to 20/5.   I run my phone lines over the internet so that just doesn't work for me.  All I want is Foxnews HD and it seems to me that I pay enough for just about everything Verizon has to offer.  Why can't they just add the HD channels to the service we already get.  I seem to remember hearing multiple times when a new HD channel is available they will just simply add it.  I feel like I'm being nickled and dimed to death.  Oh and where is the Media Manager Update????   I love my Fios, wouldn't get rid of it but come on guys lets figure this one out.

People run VOIP over DSL and cable modems and that speed is a lot less the 5mbits down. And I don't think you need to downgrade your internet, they just don't have a bundle price for the 20/20. I believe the upgrade for the extreme HD is 10 bucks.
