FIOS TV Without box

Newbie

I have a snall tv in our kitchen that I'd like to connect to FIOS without a cablebox. Mostly to view channels like Food Network, and HGTV. Can I get these channels without a box? If no, can I buy small tv with cablecard slot to get around issue>?

FiOS has a small "digital adapter" for I think $3.99/month. It gives you all non-HD channels, but no program guide of video on-demand. It's about the size of a small book.

simple answers are no and yes

without a cable box you will not be able to get any channel above 50 (assuming you have a QAM digitial tuner tv)

you can get TV's with cable cards. These are usually only larger tv's and they can be quite expensive. It may take some effort but you may be able to find one

However, you can get a digital adaptor for that room. They ARE a cable box but are fairly small. No interactive features (vod, program guide, widgets) on the digital adaptors but they do give you access to all your SD programming. Could be a good compromise

cable cards do give you HD channels, and SD channels, just no VOD widgets and don't have a guide from Verizon.

IF you can find a tv that has one, you can rent that cable card for 3.99.

without the cable card you will just get local HD and SD stations and public access channels.

Or like the gentleman above me mentioned the FiOS has a small Standard definition converter for 3.99 as well and it's a small box
