Favorites gone

As the subject says, my whole list of favorites disappeared about 2 or 3 days ago.  I tried a reset, but that didn't work.  I called tech support today and got  the wait time of 2 to 4 minutes.  It transferred me to a busy signal, then fast busy signal, then disconnected.  I called immediately back and my wait time was "more than 10 minutes".  I waited for 55 minutes then couldn't wait anymore.  I hope this isn't a sign of the times where customer service is being cut to save money.

Anyway, how can I get my favorites back?  I really do not want to have to go through and program them all over again, and I use the favorites exclusively (don't memorize channels).  Thanks for your help!

First things first. Make sure that they are gone and not just deselected. Go to:

Menu > Settings > Favorite Channels > Favorites 1 (or Favorites 2)

Enter this list and see if there are actually no channels listed below the Add or Remove Channels option. This will confirm that your favorites are actually wiped out.

If they are, then I'm afraid that I do not have good news for you. I have heard of a box forgetting some favorites, but not all favorites. The three possible reasons that I can think of that your favorites are missing are:

1. Someone selected the Remove All option in the Favorite Channels settings.
2. You have recently undergone a destructive reprogramming of that particular box.
3. That box may be going bad.

No matter what the cause, I haven't heard of a spontaneous Favorite list regeneration. You may very well be stuck reprogramming all your favorites back in. And if your box is going bad, it might happen again.

A few things to check / do:

1. If you have more than one box, are they all missing their favorites?
2. If you have a box that isn't missing its favorites listing, this can aid you in reprogramming the other by providing you with a list.

I can tell you that in fact there are no favorites programmed under either 1 or 2.  I can also tell you that nobody went in an erased them.  I can't really answer to the destructive reprogramming option.  It would have been done without us knowing about it.  Years ago there was to be an upgrade that was going to wipe out the favorites.  At least they let us know ahead of time so I wrote down the channels and then reprogrammed.  Unfortunately I did not save that list (which would have been similar enough to the current list).

My favorites are a mess.  Channels are added and deleted randomly.  Verizon service was at my house today and said they never heard of this problem.  They should read the forum.  The problem still exists after the tech left and I received an email that the problem was resolved.  NOT TRUE!  It appears the only way to resolve this issue is to change companies.
