Green Screen w/ Audio on FIOS, but TV works fine with DVD player.

Suddenly, our 3-yr old Sharp HD tv is giving us a solid green screen, with audio, when receiving FIOS tv signal.  We have a DVD player connected to the tv, and its video and audio are fine.  So, it must be something with the cable or the settings, or the DVR box.  I tried resynchronizing; screen is still green.  I pulled out the HDMI plugs and put them back in.  Input on tv screen shows HDMI 1080i -- as always.  Anyone have any idea what's wrong?  Thanks.

Tiger.

Two things to try.

Can you plug another HDMI source into the same HDMI port in the TV?  As far as I know, a normal DVD player doesn't use an HDMI output, you'll need a Blu-Ray player.  This test is to make sure the HDMI port on the TV is working properly and didn't die on you.

You are getting a picture now with the component cables.  That's fine.  However, the component cables only transmit video, not audio.  If you want to get audio, you need to connect another pair of audio cables from the FiOS box to the TV audio inputs that are linked to the 3-wire video input.

The old HDMI cable transmitted both audio and video on the same cable.

Ensure that your Sharp TV has the latest firmware. Also ensure that your HDMI cable is rated "high-speed", and has no bends or kinks. If you are all set on those suggestions, you might try component cables plus audio as an experiment. You will still get full 1080i. Since IMG 1.9 was released, there seems to be a number of people with issues like yours.

Thanks.  I installed red-blue-green component cables.  Progress: I now have a picture.  Only problem: no sound.  And mute buttons are off.  Any ideas?  Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!  I didn't know that all three inputs from the component cable was just for the video.  I connected up a second cable between the two audio outs on the DVR box, to the audio in on the tv and sound joined picture! The picture quality looks as good as I had with the old HDMI cable.  Thanks again for your help.

You're welcome!  Work on the HDMI input if you can, it would be nice to confirm there isn't anything wrong with the TV input at least.
