Switched from Direct TV satellite to Fios TV and am shocked that the picture (esp standard def) is NOT AS GOOD! I thought it would be better, but it is less crisp and clear.  The HD is Ok, not better but not strikingly worse as is the SD.  Jumped through all the ropes on the phone with support and even had a technician come out to check any problems with installation or equipment.  He said we are getting a strong signal and there is no problem with wiring or equipment.  When he saw the fuzzy picture he said that is the best we can expect to get. Didn't know anything about any software upgrade. On the phone with Roger in Dallas (fiber something analysist) asked about 1.6.1 as possible improvement.  If we ever get it. He told me that 1.6.1 is supposed to improve on demand, not live TV. Does anyone know if that is right?  I have to cancel by Friday if the fuzzy picture is too difficult to live with.  Was told to contact Sony as maybe my TV needs adjustment.  Since it got a perfectly clear picture before the switch to fios, this seems far fetched but I will be on the phone trying to get them tomorrow.  I'm sure they will say it is Verizon.....Is there any hope that if we stick with Verizon the picture will get better???  How can it be worse that the dish on the roof!!? Help!!!!

back in November/October 1.6 came out it did soften the picture to much 1.6.1 is going to come out and will fix that exact issue. Now we did have to suspend the 1.6.1 rollout due to the audio issues that were unforseen I do apologise for that and will be fixed here shortly most like roll out in March from what I'm hearing. I truly hope that you stay with verizon. I do understand picture quality is everything to a lot of people.

Thanks for your reply.  So, if we keep the Verizon fios, when the audio issues are worked out and 1.6.1 is implemented here (Texas) we should get a higher quality picture on live TV as well as on demand?  Will it equal what we were getting on satellite? Should I still contact Sony and try to "adjust" our television? I appreciate your answer very much!

Thank you.  I'm not going to try to talk to Sony about adjusting the TV until we see what happens with the update.  Again, I very much appreciate the information and hope to see a better picture quality soon.

hey there ddk......   I also have had an issue with bad picture quality on standard def channels since October 2008.supposedly a fix is in the works to resolve issue.  STILL WAITING HERE IN RHODE ISLAND  phone tech support is useless.  but ive been getting some good input here by some verizon employees,  namely techman ,the sanchez . by the way if you are reading this techman   any more schedule updates on the 1.61 fix for  VHO 6 or VHO6A here in RI .
