How do I get a CableCard for my PC?
azrielmordecias

I'm trying to watch FIOS from a signal split off an STB to my PC. My PC is CableCard ready. Can I get a CableCard and attatch it and watch more than just the 21 channels my TV Tuner card is getting now? Any help appreciated...

It depends on what cablecard ready means. All ATI Cable Ready tuner cards will not work after Sept 15. There are changes being made to use features that are supported by cablecard and were not used on the older tuners.

Read this thread. You need to place an order for a card and they would need to come and deliver or install it. But if you have an older device, it may not work. People have been unloading them for this reason.

So, what exactly are we supposed to do after Sept. 15th? Are there any TV Tuner crads that will support the new format and if so where can we get them? I appreciate all your helpful information...

The only one for the PC that is out now, that I am aware of, is the Centon InfiniTV 4. It is a PCI-Express x1 card.

There can be ordered from Zones, Fluid Digital, and Cannon PC. They are $399, and if you order today, you may get it before 2011. Ceton is experiencing a parts shortage, and I would guess under-estimated the initial demand.

I ordered mine on 9/1 (since I wanted to read real life reviews), and now have a HTPC with a PCI-Expresss slot just waiting for it.
