Sorry to hear the verizon extender didnt work on your Panasonic.
I had good luck with this one from Amazon (with a Sony set however) might be worth a try.

Your other option would be to get a Tivo. This is what I ended up doing.I have two now.
They now have self install and I did it myself. You rent a cablecard from verizon 3.99 a month and then pay Tivo a DVR fee rather than Verizon.
I dont have the same interference with the Tivo and maybe a Tivo might work well also with your Panasonic set.

Thanks for the IR link on Amazon.Recently installed FIOS and DVR (Cisco CHS 435) was slow to respond.
Just purchased Panasonic VT-50 and it went from slow to "get rid of fios" calls from my family.
After I installed the IR extender, no improvement was seen.
If the IR receiver on the front of the DVR box is blocked, the response from the remote is excellent. Unblock it and response from remote is poor.
Cannot find option to disable front IR from Menu nor Guide.
Going to cover the front IR with black paper or something.....
So, simply noting that the front IR on my 435 did not disable when the IR extender was connected.
Also - normal HD STB works fine with ST-30. No delay in response.

If your STB is within close proximity of the VT-50, the plasma TV itself is likely saturating the IR receiver on the STB (which is extremely sensitive). There are threads about this on this forum and on others. Perhaps the IR extender you have is not sensitive to the plasma interference. FYI, on a Motorola STB, the front-panel IR is automatically disabled when you plug in an extender. "Simply noting" this FYI. I would have prefered the Motorola STB work like the Cisco. I was trying to extend the IR capability to another room but keep it available in the same room where the STB was located. But since plugging the extender in disabled the front panel, this wouldn't work for me..

If you want to operate more then your box try one of the IRP repeater kits http://infrared-resources.com/category/73634229101/1/IR-Repeater-Hub-Kits.htm

I was having the same issue (IR remote not working with Panasonic Plasma TV). Tried changing the TV settings, still didn't work. However I did notice that if I blocked the IR receiver on the Cisco box with my finger, oddly the remote worked. So I put a 1" piece of electrical tape directly over the IR receiver (about midway between the right arrow and the IR indicator, see pic attached) , and the remote now works 100% of the time. Hope this helps.

Count me as another one with a Panasonic plasma (VT60 series) with very sluggish remote response, using both the original and a Harmony remote. Encourged by previous posts, I tried putting a large Light Dim (http://www.lightdims.com/) over the STB receiver. It solved my problems and now the remotes respond instantly. No missed button pushes, no more having to point very carefully.
Thanks to previous posters, solved a long term irritation with the STB.
