Hi all,

I just upgraded to the new Verizon Arris VMS 1100 box in my living room and need to get some kind of Infrared Extender for the unit. Our cable box is inside built in bookshelves/cabinets and we want to keep the door of the unit shut. Right now we have to keep it open for the remote to work with the cable box and are looking for the best way to make it work with keeping the bookshelf doors shut.

I found this IR Extender on Amazon, but I am not sure if it is capabtible with the new Arris VMS 1100: http://www.amazon.com/Infrared-Receiver-Extender-Description-Compatibility/dp/B002JSDHCY

Does anyone know if that one will work or if there are other options anyone can recommend so that we can keep our door closed in our media unit?

Thank you!

You can get one from the fios accessory store or call in. I believe they are 10 dollars. If you Google fios accessory you will find store.

Thanks hlppls - I think you are referring to this https://teleproducts.verizon.com/fios/index.cfm/eh/dtlsfromhome/419 which is a new extender

I dont want to add a new extender - but was wondering if this could work if I attached the emitter from my existing system to the input

I got the same one from Amazon and it works great on rhe VMS.  Make sure you have it plugged firmly in and aim the remote at the extender eye not the box.
