I had my STB connected to my Mits. DPL LCD tv via a HDMI cable...but now my Blue-Ray needs that output.  What's the best way to connect my STB up now??  TIA

This is the red, yellow, and white cable right?? And I assume I connect it directly from the box to the tv?? Is that going to give me a lesser quality view on my HD channels now since I don't have the HDMI?? Anything I can do about that??  Pardon my ignorance I'm in no way a techie

No this is the component cables. It is just used for video. You would need another  cable for audio, your best bet for that is optical (TOSLINK), or digital coaxial (RCA connector) cable.

Component Cable

Optical Cable (TOSLINK)

2 cables to replace 1...just my luck.  And I connect those straight from my box to my tv..or connect the component to the tv and the other one to my stereo receiver??

That is more of a preference. But I would suggest to do the audio cable to a receiver so you get surround sound. If its just on the TV you will only get sound from the TV speakers.

Supergirl9801:

Re the picture quality, HDMI is a digital connection while component is analog. Component will probably give you somewhat of a softer image, and the quality of the cables may make a difference (it can with analog but not with digital). Some people actually prefer a component video connection though. For myself, I use an HDMI switch. Monoprice makes some good inexpensive ones: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=109&cp_id=10110

If you do go with an HDMI switch, I recommend that you leave yourself some room for expansion.  🙂

I hope this helps.

Also, if money isn't too big of an issue, this stereo receiver has HDMI switching. It has two HDMI in and one out. I have one and it is GREAT.

Oooh I like the idea of the switcher.  I remember the fios guy suggesting the HDMI b/c it would give a better picture quality.  So I was upset when I thought we'd have to forgo that just for the blue-ray.  Great suggestion.  Of course I guess this means 1 more remote.  Geez!!  I guess I should invest in some super duper programmable one that would handle all of them.  Doubt I'd be able to find one that would handle a switcher too though.

The Harmony remotes can handle an HDMI switcher. Basically what you do is tell it that you are changing the TV input (which you aren't) but you use the remote press that you want for the switcher. I have a Harmony One and it is sweet!
