I switched from DirecTV to triple play at the beginning of this month.  I had some issues with installation and activating the set-top boxes, but I contacted technical support and the issues were solved quickly.  I'm working through how to work with the multi-room DVR and how that works as far as recording programs and viewing recorded programs on my other set-top boxes.

This is new to me and I understand there requires some time to learn how everything works.

I switched from cablevision,Woodbury,NY.

Why--raised my bill over 60 bucks cause my promotion was over and wouldn't give me another one----

I told them I will not pay that and IM going to VERIZON--

So I did and guess what---

Verizon--blows away cable in every way possible.

PHONE---BOTH EQUAL

TV--CABLE IS PRIMITIVE IN ALL WAYS

INTERNET-LIGHTNING SPEED--CABLE--SLOW REGARDLESS

cust.,SUPPORT--PERFECT EVERY TIME-

ONLINE CHAT--THE BEST IN USA-

VERIZON IN-HOME AGENT---EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THIS GUY FOR EVERY THING WE OWN--

SO THERE IT IS--

I FIRMLY BELIEVE SOMETHING ELSE HAS HAPPENED WITH YOU AND VERIZON CAUSE WHAT YOUR SAYING--FOR ME--DON'T EXIST---ITS ONLY ALL GREAT.

FIOS is OK, esp. Internet speed, except for:
1. The cost
2. The increasing FIOS commercials FIOS is inserting into the Channel guide.
3. VOD movies cost; Amazon is usually cheaper.
4. DVR features....satellite TV DVR is better, for example: can fast forward VOD, easier to skip commercials, better VOD films choices, e.g. more foreign films. FIOS TV recordings often include much dropped audio, video breakup & pixillation
5. Better alternative news channels, such as Free Speech TV, Link, Doc
6. Support. Try calling to get a real live Support person.
7. Website. Crazy, getting a little better.

A series if little things, but they build up.... thinking of going back to Satellite TV, and only using FIOS internet.

I'm really happy with the service.  We've had it for about two years and switched over from Comcast (which was terrible)

The only thing I'd change would be to lower the price on the higher internet speeds 🙂

I know this thread is old, but seems to have been revived. I might as well comment.

I've had fios for almost 4 years now and I have no plans to go elsewhere. I'm very happy with it.

Never an outage, I get great internet speeds, bills are always right, etc..

Instalation when I originally got it went great.

Customer service has always been helpul even though I've only needed it twice. The only issue I had was with the chat service where the rep. was 100% clueless. I think even a job at McDonalds drive thru would have been difficult for this rep.

The only problem I have with fios is the youtube buffering/loading issue that is well known. I blame both Verizon and Google for the problem, but I'll deal with that over other issues.

I came from Brighthouse (Time Warner) who you couldnt pay me to go back to, but have had Directv years ago who also was bad as I always lost signal and always had billing issues.

Brighthouse always went out, had signal issues, the internet speeds were terrible, dvr's were always breaking down or not working right, etc..

Their advertisments make me laugh. Get 30 mbps download speeds. Yea, but they don't tell you in the ad that their upload speeds won't go past 2 mbps. That's sad.

The cable junction box is in my back yard and I kid you not my neighbor had Brighthouse out all of the time before they finally replaced his line after several months of issues.

I know Verizon likes to chage extra for things here and there such as buying a new router, paying more for dvr's, swapping out boxes, etc.. but I'd rather pay a little more then get crappy service.

I'm also paying less then I would with Brighthouse outside of their so called "special" deals.

I have family members who also have fios and they enjoy it as well.
