So I performed the steps in this link:
And it actually worked at first. The Google wifi puck got a public IP from Verizon and devices connected to it could access the Internet. But after about 10 minutes or so, devices could no longer reach the Internet and the Google puck started glowing orange. Any idea why that might be?

This is an incredibly frustrating issue, thank you for starting this thread. I don’t want to compromise the WiFi through the (amazing) google routers. Is there any way to get Verizon to fix this?

It has to do with networking. App can I only find devices that are in the same subnet if it doesn't know the exact IP of the device it is looking for. So not a very easy fix.
